Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

2019 is going to be a very ugly year for Intel

2019 is going to be a very ugly year for INTC. Some people don't realize that sampling to high volume rollout is a very long process. AMD has already been qualified in many of the so called hyperscalers and they will be ramping to very high volume on EPYC next year. No, I'm not a troll. I work in the industry and have very good direct and indirect insight into the contracts and negotiations that are already in place. The next server upgrade cycle is already a clear victory for AMD. It's already a done deal. Wall St. doesn't really have a full understanding of the shift that has already happened (contracts in place). The 20% market share that has been thrown around the Internet is chump change and way off. The reason INTC keeps gouging prices on the server CPU's is because they can get away with it right now. They are trying to restock the war chest while they still can even if it means burning bridges with customers.

Bumped from @UxXGh9A-1xzl for being on point.

Can anyone confirm rumors that Bill Chalmers who invented Tiano is considering coming back? Heard he and Murthy are classmates.

Sell a snowball to an Eskimo, sorry Eskimos ain’t that dumb.

It’s a repeat of the late 90s bit this time AMd got process superiority and TSMC manufacturing.

Intel fumbled it all away, what a FUBAR

Bill Chalmers is the swing factor. He has powerful cloud contacts which will come in handy for Intel.

Hopefully this will mean finally burning all the deadwood that has been collected over the years.

Great post. The points about the Market not understanding the industry and the lead times is very true as well. Semiconductor market is barely understood by the full-time analysts that cover semi's. Really rough times ahead for Intel for the foreseeable future.
