I don’t know why you guys think the merchandise has to look good in order to sell it. You could put it on a steaming pile of poo and customers would still pay for the privilege of buying it from you.

Or is that fake news.

Don’t wanna hear anything about needing all matching colored pallets on the first feature or in seasonal anymore because “Members are here for our savings, not to look at our pallets”. Got it.

Has anyone noticed it says "don't worry about pallets that aren't the same color or poor condition, the members are here for our savings, not to look at our pallets". Wow.

Just another “LOOK AT ME!!!” effort by Gisel. Grasping at straws in hopes of making herself look like a hero with a genius idea that none of her predecessors could come up with. It’s proposterous and goes against the principles of merchandising that they preach in their barbaric tours and visits when their planes land in your area. They’re so OCD about standards and being neat, clean and organized yet they want to present this new program under the guise of saving $100-$200 per pallet skirt per club and save the company millions. It looks like trash and her attempts at making her mark with Sam’s and making her footprint felt is doing nothing more than making herself look like a complete buffoon. She’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

This is to make sure the focus goes back where it belongs. On the frozen cheese biscuits. Mx voices improve 82% when cheese biscuits are in stock.

They are exiting the Club Channel. They ceded the entire NE to Costco and BJ’s. The Clubs are a wreck an embarrassment . It’s over , just a matter of time. To my Sam’s Family welcome to the end days for our Company. This is what hat feels and looks like! Very sad to see!

I have worked for Sam's Club almost 12 years, and I work at the pace of Sonic the Hedgehog. When I was assigned the task of removing all of our pallet skirts, my morale was at -9 million percent and I was moving at the pace of an undead slug with a :-( that stretched all the way to the floor.

It’s actually going to take MORE time if you think about it. Why? Because eventually they’re going to insist that all of the clubs use the exact same color pallets for every product that’s bumped up where as before you could just go grab a stack of pallets and it wouldn’t matter because the pallet skirts covered up the multi colored rainbow of pallets underneath. Mark my words, we’ll all end up spending more time digging out pallets and restacking them to fit their OCD demands.

We never knew they would ever be uncovered. Now we see red, blue, blond and even black all in a stack . Even with shrink wrap stuck between, good look for sure.

did your managers not tell any of you????the direction came with visuals and it stated that using skirts was a poor use of time and in order to better use the time pallet skirts were no longer to be used. The communication stated explicitly that every single skirt was to be removed from the building, And that should more skirts arrive from vendors they should be thrown away.

I would guess a lawsuit happened where companies had to pay for skirts to be on the floor, some companies probably did not want to "pay for play" - our club was pulled apart in 2 hours - it made 2 bales. The club look likes Big Lots now. Something that fast to happen, something major happened.

What were the "reasons" given in the email about the change? I haven't seen the email yet. My club looks terrible though, especially electronics. They're using the oldest, jankiest pallets possible. Not only does it look like sh**, but it's probably going to pose as a safety hazard when theres rusty nails and giant splinters sticking out at knee level.........

It's to save money if I had to guess? They probably want the vendors to not waste money on marketing materials to give them lower price. Also gives more of a treasure hunt by making the merchandise the focal point and not the pallet skirt. If I had to take a stab at a guess.

I'm not so sure about the "uncluttered look" comment. I thought the new direction was "uncomfortably full"?

Not sure how this is going to work in electronics with pull card build ups but all were crushed

I think they are just trying to help give clubs that extra push one step closer to closing.

Because our higher ups in this company are insane and have long lost touch with clubs.

This is yet another Giselle idea that makes zero sense. Removing the skirts and leaving product stacked on pallets will look terrible. The email that went out with pictures made me question where along the way did they lose touch with basic merchandising. Anyone with common sense can see it's a bad idea.

But once again, NO ONE will push back, from the managers to regional, everyone will say "yes ma'am" and mindlessly fall in line.

I also love in the email the "reasons" they give for doing this change. Sam Walton is rolling in his grave.

Maybe the cost we still use them at our club sad thing is they arent kept up to what i feel should be the standerds of using them. Torn, split, taped just in all looking messy. The ones that care cant fix it all.

That way we can get rid of the clean look build ups on end caps and show members the value of having food, pharmaceutical, snacks, drinks, etc. builded up on bacterial filled, rusty nailed, splintered pallets that have been used for years in transporting raw chicken, meats and seafood, cleaning chemicals, fertilizers, ice melt, mulch and much more. It's better at the club!
