Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

You are not safe at Molina. Yes, you.

I find it so shocking to discover every day there are people who honestly believe they are safe at Molina for whatever reason. It's like people choose to stick their heads in the sand and ignore everything that's been happening around them.

Years, experience, knowledge...every single one of those has been proven to mean zero when it comes to layoffs. When will you all finally wake up?

Stop with the whining. If the founders were eliminated, you or anyone won’t get any sympathy. At the end of the day, a business has to stick with the best strategic plan. Sad but the solid truth. If you choose to stay, choose to stay without any negative insecure comments.

It isn’t a case if Shadenfreude to think people are out of touch that Molina is pushing stocks up for its last gasp and its death rattle.

It is what it is you guys. I’m in a MHI department that has actually grown since this all started but I know end is near. I’ve had this experience before. I’m not remaining at Molina because I want to. The job market is brutal in Southern California. I’ve been looking, but at AVP level, it’s harder to find the next opportunity.

The days of commitment to Molina having value ended when The Molina’s left. This isn’t Molina anymore.

The “negative” posts don’t upset me. I don’t feel insulted by them. I have staff and I feel badly some of them don’t seem to realize what is happening. I’m not able to warn them. All I can say is no one has asked me to give a list of folks and their jobs as yet. If they think that makes them safe, I feel that they aren’t aware enough. I can’t tell them to leave. Good luck and keep the posts coming...all of them.

@V108Cby-2cuz All signs point to Molina not loving you back. Of course those companies you mentioned aren’t being bought out....they are the buyers. Amazon bought Whole Foods. Next time you log on to this site....go take a look at the Whole Foods page. You’ll see Molina’s future. It isn’t speculation that Molina’s strategic moves are leading to a sale. It’s fact. It doesn’t matter to me if folks want to stay til the bitter end. However. You can't defend that by saying you want to work hard and save the day. You do realize that isn’t within your power, right?

The Emporer is naked. You don’t want to see that....it’s up to you.....but that doesn’t but clothes on his back. You appear to be the self appointed representative of all remaining Molina employees who visit this site. I’m not certain you know what is or isn’t helpful to others. JZ is paying himself a whole lot more than $38/hour to make your beloved Molina sellable. Consider writing your posts in Word and take advantage of the spelling and grammar tools. Copy and paste here. Let’s hope your resume doesn’t look as bad as this post. Being thirsty is good......being proactive is best.

Well said @V108Cby-2cuz. I think everyone working here acknowleges that there are big issues to work through. The Paul Revere and Koolaide" I know so much better than you" act is so over-done.

I will tell you why. Yes, I respect the fair warnings, but enough of the dire "take heed" "drinking the Kool-Aid" type warnings. Yeah I drink the Kool-Aid - know why? Because I have an 1100 dollar Mortgage, two car payments, credit card bills, etc and guess what - I am thirsty. I stay thirsty bc being thirsty affects ur job performance and ur work ethic. Those who dont care about bills and show up and do the bare minimum to get noticed arent thirsty - they simply fill a spot in the workplace. I work my a-- off for Molina bc at the end of the day they havent done me wrong and yes, I feel for those laid off - truly do, been there before. It s---s. Posting helpful info keeps us still at Molina - one step ahead. The "I cant believe ppl dont see the signs" type posts are belittling to us. Who i the hell ever posted on here and said "what signs?" or asked for signs bc they were too stupid to see them? Answer: nobody did. Believe me just bc we choose to stay doesnt mean we are too dumb like robots that mutter "must.stay.at.molina.must.drink.Kool-Aid. I personally want to stay with Molina and if it gets sold hopefully make enough of a good impression that the new company keeps me or my upper level contacts tell them that I am a force to be reckoned with amd that they might want to keep me.l around. Biggest difference here is I dont sit around and "wish others would wise up". My philosophy is this - to each their own. Either way I am moving forward and ur either coming with or Im going alone..either way I dont give a sh--. Fleeting thoughts of "man, I hope the others wise up and see whats going on" is normal or a "hey i heard XYZ about Molina today from a good source - heads up guys", again is normal. The "GET OUT WHILE U CAN - ITS SINKING", "WHY DONT U SEE THE SIGNS?" type posts piss me off. I see the signs at times - hence why if I get laid off - I got my stocks and my savings to live on for almost two years while looking for a job once in a while. Oh, how did I get to that status? I stayed thirsty. Just bc others laid off or even those not laid off dont agree with the company doesnt mean we have to disagree. If i dont like Chase bank or American Ex., and their practices does that mean u shouldnt either? Should I flood ur email or mailbox at home with dire warnings and belittle u bc ur a card holder? Absolutely not. People also have a normal tendency by nature when they feel wronged to have a small piece of them hope that others have to go through what they did so they dont feel alienated or wronged alone. Not gonna lie when I got laid off from my job 10 plus years ago - as Steel worker - mind you a UNION $38 hr all the OT I could sign up for, steel worker - I was livid and i thought I hope they go under. I wanted ppl to feel the hurt I did. My family didnt know how wronged i felt or how used I felt. They felt the financial aspect of it as we had to eat mice - I am kidding. The only ones who could feel as sh--ty as me were my previous co-workers. Last part and Im done: I work my a-- off everyday bc honestly I want to try and help make the company so profitable and high priced - that nobody wants to buy them. Companies want to acquire others who are in the failing - moderately failing but we still operate categories. Do you see offers for companies to purchase Amazon, Google, Apple - nope bc they are so successful nooone cam afford them. The sappy side of me ultimately hopes that we become so successful that a few hundred or thousand of my previous co-workers who got thrust into tense and uncertain situations with family life, finances, etc - get the opportunity to come back to an unbelievably successful company.

I agree with the original poster. Of course people who were laid off care about what is happening. If you need that explained to you, then you are over simplifying human beings. Just wait until it happens to and you’ll find yourself wishing others would wise up. It’s hard to watch people on their approach to the guilliotine with zero awareness, despite the vast array of information available that indicates death is imminent. The real question isn’t, “why won’t those let go, just move on?” The question here is, “what is wrong with people who are refusing to take advantage of the warning signs others didn’t have?”

Are you paying their rent? If not don’t worry about it. People have different coping mechanisms and that is entirely their business.
