4Q18 Rif or Management offer?

Anyone hearing details related to 4Q Rif or Management offer targeting senior management? If offer is more lucrative than the Rif off payroll 9/7 how can company execs sleep at night riffing right before an offer? Anyone know of a good class action attorney?

RIF's at VZ have been plowing along through the VZ fields for the past 20 years..the key thing to remember is 1) make sure you can still get the lump sum and 2) expect the company to fight you tooth and nail on collecting unemployment

Yep, Nov 30th RIF is BAU for VZ. 30 days notice, off payroll by end of Q4.

@V1zFQJZ-vgh - Verizon has lost several employee lawsuits - several of them were big payouts. Nynex lost a class action age discrimination lawsuit in the early 90s. They are not "bullet-proof"

Of course the DBAs are asking for packages. Most of them have decades of experience with a highly valuable tech skill which is being replaced with what's to them an unknown. Stick with what you know and go make money elsewhere or partially restart your career within the company that's not actually training you on the new stuff and showing servere internal instability. It's not a hard decision.

Most likely the Rif will happen last payday in Nov.

Rumor Mil has a lot of the DBA requesting packages.

Not sure about anything else but a RIF is VZ home for the holidays plan.

I heard the buyout rumor at the end of the July. I heard 2 years pay. I thought that would never happen, they could just have a rif. But...in 2003 this is what they did to sweeten the pot-

"Employees who take the offer will receive the standard Verizon severance pay of two weeks' pay for each year of service up to a maximum of 35 weeks of pay. They will receive an additional payment of between $15,000 and $30,000, depending on their job level in the company. Their pensions will be increased by 5%, and the managers would get medical benefits for a year without having to pay any premiums. "

So, while I hope the buyout offer is true, and that it would come before a RIF and not after, I guess we'll just have to wait and see

Class action? Funny. Even if you hired Johnnie Cochran as your attorney you will never get a dime out of Verizon. Our employment is "at will", which means either party can call it quits at any time without reason or notice. Consider yourself lucky if you walk away with all your fingers and toes.

Yes we all know the standard HR response to what Rif documents state ...The real question is how should a profitable company conduct business. $10B in tax savings should have supported an offer and no RIF in 2018 as we all know that all reductions in workforce are rehired within one week.

RIF paperwork clearly states the company policies will change as needed, and that you understand that offers in the future may be more valuable than the one you are offered, but by signing you agree that you have no claim.... etc
