Store Closures By Possible Hurricane On East Coast

It's going to be interesting how many stores may be "permanently closed" due to Hurricane Florence.

Main Street Houston store was flooded and the company did not want to reinvest back into the store after the flood and closed it as part of one of many “announcements”. store had a 99 year lease with a $1 a year lease agreement. Goes to show you how cheap they are now.....

@1qpk - Yes, I hear it is quite the fashion trend to wear overpriced, dowdy, and waterlogged clothes from SHLD stores after a hurricane. Also, there are all those building supplies they stock and the full line of all major brand replacement appliances ready for next day delivery. Oh, wait, that may be Lowes and Home Depot I'm thinking of there. Well, there are all those electronic devices that people will need to replace and SHLD stores stock a full line of those; don't they? Oh well, I'm sure that Eddie, out the goodness of his heart, will give everyone in the affected area 1,000 free SYW surprise points to spend on….hmmm....whatever.

If it was that easy to get your store to close everyone would leave the faucets on and plug the drains overnight.

Based on Weather Bell and European models Florence could dump almost 48" of rain in parts of NC, SC, and Southwest Virginia as it slowly moves inland. If it moves North/Northeast after it comes inland Western Virginia, Central Virginia, WV, and the Washington DC area could see historical flooding as Florence moves through. Much of that area is already saturated with August rains and the current rain from the remnants of Hurricane Gordon....

At this point how bout we worry more about the safety of people's family, their homes and other property than what will happen to the decaying remains of Sears and Kmart stores.

The hurricane could help sales. Bring it on.

@V4xqIV3-aaj They don't need more losses. Thanks for the info.

@xce - SHLD is self-insured, so there wouldn't be any payouts, just a loss write off.

Oh you know that if any of stores are destroyed in that hurricane they will shut them down. If anything it will make corporates life easier and provide the perfect cover for a store closure.
