Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Lots of Chiefs

Today.....Xerox announced a Chief Commercial Officer. Reporting to the recently announced Chief Operating Officer - yes, both from outside. How many were let go to make room for these two 'chiefs"? I'm fairly certain they are not 'worker bees' nor middle managers (who seem to bear the brunt of the 40%+ RIFs - not very good optics and does nothing for morale

The only jobs being created are for those people being being brought into the company at an EVP or higher level. All other hiring is frozen regardless if it is essential to supporting existing contracts and or required LOS. What does this tell you about the direction of the company other then the focus is sole making the books look good for a quick sale. Let’s just hope they sell quickly so they don’t destroy what is left of this company and the employees who depend upon the jobs it provides them and their families

Yet, looking at their job profiles, most have not been with any given company for more than 2 years and many come from HP and/or IBM backgrounds. So, like likely means that these folks are coming in with the expectation of a career with Xerox for less than 2 years, re-structuring the company, and then either re-launching Xerox as a much smaller and different company or selling it.

This is potentially good news to those that are still with Xerox. It means that there is enough of a future to bring someone with a relatively high profile (who is probably a buddy of the COO) into the company. If it is purely chop chop chop then they would not be bringing in new blood. I'm sure there will still be more heads chopped but a sliver of light at the end of the tunnel.
