Why? I found several job postings for Sears from yesterday on the official site.
Everybody knows this ship is about ready to go completely underwater.
Why try to fill positions when you know the whole store will most likely go belly up within a month?
How is that fair to poor people who actually apply for those jobs?
This is corporate America. Fair does not apply.
Even if say Sears is hiring lots of times when people get hired they get c-ap hours. I remember they hired a new guy and was getting like 12 to 16 hours a quit. He quit within 2 months it wasnt enough pay and needed more.
Job posting sometime is just a facade. Many companies are doing this just to appease law or regulation and for public relation. Their real intention is to get H1B and those aliens. They have no intention to hire any real local US citizen candidates.
1iga is right. "But your honor, we really really really tried. We had hired some great people who could have been an integral part of this transformation but the retirees wanted their pensions or wait, it was the media gave us a bad rep or wait I think it was a bad weather season. Yeah that's it. We really were about to do it. Missed it by that much..."
They keep the charade going and since worrying about how they treat existing employees has never mattered, the people applying for and perhaps accepting these new positions matter even less.
Doesn't it just make you mad? Can't type how I really feel tho...
They have to pretend like it is a going concern until the day they declare bankruptcy. That's how American business law works.

It's as fair as it's legally obligated to be. ;-)
There are over 4000 jobs posted on the careers site. All over the country. TEMP is the designation for the jobs posted at the stores closing in my area.
