Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Oh I cannot wait!

Oh Happy Day. Sears gets to wipe the slate clean. Bankruptcy. Pass the debt onto the taxpayers and re emerge, debt free and free from pension liabilities. Sears will be an asset light co. Like Eddie had been saying for years. This is the transformation. Assets light or assettless. It's all good, put a couple servers in a room and there is your company, ready to play middle man for all goods and services. Look out Amazon. We are finally going to come after you!

Only companies that are asset rich and cash poor survive bankruptcy. Eddie made sure that all of the assets are gone. When you are asset poor and cash poor, there is nothing that will allow a company to survive a bankruptcy. Sears is so upside down on its debt to equity ratio, that it can't come out the other side.

Corporate bankruptcy does not simply allow for wiping debts out. It exists to ensure a fair and equitable payout to debtholders. The only way a company emerges from bankruptcy is by having a viable plan for resolving all debts, with the probability of remaining a going concern. That is not going to be the case with Sears.

What are you talking about? When Sears files for bankruptcy, that will mean it will be closing ALL it's stores shortly. They don't have any money to run the stores.
