Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Mistakes will be made

Honestly TR will make the cuts in the wrong spots. They tend to not replace lower level employees through attrition which makes the work load far too much for those actually doing the work. This generally leads to massive turnover of skilled employees who actually work past 2pm on Fridays.

They also will not touch managers of which there are far too many, doing way too little. I wouldn’t recommend TR to anyone other than an internship as they actually are treated well. I was happy to get out of an environment in which all my competent managers worried about constantly losing talent while the worst of the worst did nothing but count the days until their pension vested.

Regarding the earlier post, "2nd round will happen in 2019."

I'm assuming you're referring to June 2019 (Oct 1 2018 + 9 months = June 2019)

Or was there an indication that it could/would be earlier in 2019 for Blackstone to determine which businesses to cut/sell/grow?

My manager (according to his manager) shared some limited information with us in a private conversation, our business had been given the head count &total cost to be reduced in the first round RIF in 2018. It will be decided by current management team .

After closing , Blackstone will send consultant do a deep dive for each individual business and give recommendation to determine which business to cut, sell, or invest/grow , 2nd round will happen in 2019.

Sadly that mentality will carry over into Redundantiv as well. Anyway, the way Craig has been talking, it sounds like a lot of the lower level work will eventually be outsourced. What a shock. US and UK jobs going to India.
