Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

EMEA

There is some talk on this board that they are not done with EMEA just yet. Some say small offices (<15 employees) will be hit next, if not shut down completely. Does anyone know more?

All London TAMs have been told to attend a meeting at 9am on Monday (15th Oct), I expect this will be the main week in London for the layoffs.

The correct figures for UK are the 294 in Wrexham and 280 others. Before this started there were 2,800 total in UK, so about 20% of them going.

20% of EMEA is nothing remotely like 2,800 people.

There are only 22,000 in the COMPANY. you'd need 14000 in EMEA for your figures to be correct

I'm not sure about figures for London. I'll update here when I know more.

What about London? Any case thank you for sharing. I feel extremely disappointed that everybody is waiting from here to know what is going on rather than knowing from our company.

In the 2800 that you mention is London included and Geneva? It will play a big role cause this are large offices.

Just been told EMEA head count will be reduced by 20%. That's 2,800 people including the Wrexham layoffs of 294 people.

EMEA people will be informed on Monday-Tuesday.

Two days ago we were assured by TL that due to unions regulations the closest day something may happened is 22 Oct ;]

The most difficult and complex employment and redundancy laws are in Europe so I imagine that is why they are lagging behind. Most have works councils and very complicated laws to protect the staff.

As far as I know Geneva has specific laws and unions for the employees. Also they are starting with Geneva on Monday.

Exactly. They haven't even started with EMEA. The logic is finish with big offices and complicated laws and unions and then the rest.
