Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What's happening with ORCL?

What's happening with the stock? oct 1st was 51.80$ now is 47.40$ , a whopping -10% in 10 days!!!!!

Is it possible they already finished the buyback funds? Really? Less than 2 months.... There must have been a flooding of sell covered by buybacks.... ouch. I hope the stock stabilizes otherwise this can only means more layoff to maintain profitability....

"Tech sector in New York in general took a big hit. Then the Asian markets followed. Nothing particularly related to ORCL relative to everything else."

This could be the beginning of a long ride down for everyone, especially stocks with currently high P/E ratios,

"This is why, for me, options are not a motivator because (a) when they vest they could actually be worth zero, and (b) they don't compound like a salary award would."

Didn't you get a choice between options and RSU's?

This, this, this......stock options do not contribute in any significant manner to the compensation of the average employee. It’s like handing you a lottery ticket, saying it will payoff, but you end up paying for it over and over with no reward.

As an employee with a small number of share options priced at around $40 this is more like a 40% hit on the value of my options.

This is why, for me, options are not a motivator because (a) when they vest they could actually be worth zero, and (b) they don't compound like a salary award would.

I'm poorer as time goes on because of the effects of inflation on my take-home.
