Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Sam’s Hiring Toys r us ex employees to fill key positions

I don’t know if this is happening in the entire company, market 15 are hiring former toys r us employees to fill General manager , assistant manager and team lead positions. . The GM at 4774 openly says that he don’t see any talent at Sam’s for promotion so he will be looking for externals to fill key positions. Associates are trying to get promoted but they are constantly shut out. The GM at 4774 don’t have any merchandising skills or operations skills at Sam’s yet he depends on Sam’s employees to help him, at the same time he are not promoting his own employees. The GM of 4774 is also being looked at to be a future DM for Sam’s .

At Club 6369 the club manager is about to retire and a pre selected replacement from toys r us is at the club training to replace him . I believe in getting talent from the outside but I also believe in developing your employees before you leave them in the dark to give an external the opportunity, what is happening in this market?Any comments on this ?

I am in this Market, and the GM in #4774 is a Jerk. Pretty simple really. Another retread. Guy in Edison is another Zero w Shoes, a two time loser and weakling. A BS Artist. Left twice w heat failed twice. Came back twice! Loser.. Dean the BS machine. Steve O hack...

Enough with whining . MM is the Boss right or wrong it’s his call. As for comments made by GM 4774 .. is it true?? Sometimes you have to import folks to bring a fresh perspective. That Club has been used for years to hire every body’s son , daughter

you had mother and son teams relatives husbands and wives. Too much inbreeding of Family . Maybe GM is onto something or he just thinks people should be able to communicate with our Members and speak

English instead of the reverse. Just saying...

Absolutely No Comment needed. Typical of

how the MM15 rolls. But hey! He gets to make the call, it’s his house. He has a right to work with whom he feels best serves the needs of his Market. Give the guys a chance , see how they make out. But MM for sure

is the Boss, and it’s his call. Period.

I am an overnight employee of 4774 and was trying to move to days because of my family. I applied for a day time position that was available and was not interviewed. I humbly met with my GM and told him my situation and he told me I don’t dress properly “how do you expect an overnight employee to dress with suit and tie”. So he brought in a toys r us employee and filled the day time job that I applied for. I taught about talking to the market manager because this is the market home club but then one of my fellow associates advised me not to because the GM of 4774 and the MM are very close and I will be digging a hole for myself. It’s really sad .

We took on a couple of former toys r us employees at my club and they all turned out to be horrible employees that walked out. Kinda s---s when you think you'd help someone out and offer them a job, but i guess thats how retail works these days. They probably have the last laugh though as they probably used this job just temporarily.

There is no talent at Sams Club to train. The smart ones are going to school and I do encourage all to go to school or they will be stuck in either Sams or another dead end job like Sams. Any of the good ones that are left are long term and already maxed out and have no desire to put up with the nonsense the company wants. The workers that are left don't give a damn about anything and we are lucky if they show up for work. Its a freaking joke how many people call in on a daily basis. My club averages between 5-10 a day and a lot of times its the damn team leads that are calling in. Today's team leads are young and really have no clue what it means to be a team lead. They really do not want to work and want the position for the title. I do not think any understand that they need to lead by example. Finding workers is really hard now so very little accountability is held for anyone and most know clubs are so shorthanded that it takes a very long time to get in any kind of trouble

Our problem is we do not have the time to develop new associates for lead positions. It’s always go out and stock the club and while your at it, zone cause we only have three floor associates to get the building ready for tomorrow.

After awhile talent leaves the company.

Never see anyone from outside company become successful with Sams.

That guy they hired at 6369 from toys r us Dean was a failure at Secacus and Linden he left the company twice and always came back to Sam’s with glorified positions . Oh he knows Steve O they problem play golf together and smoke Cigars. What a shame I taught the company had equal opportunity.

Simple the single force behind it is the worse Market Manager in the Company.

He is a very very incompetent and disrespectful individual. He has screwed excellent People, he is weak and afraid of talent. The guy in Edison is a retread a failure in Linden goes to Toys r Us and he’s a Hero? Bull Shut he was a good ole boy if this MM # 15. What goes round comes round. These externals will fail, just like the Market Manager in 15. He can’t develop talent and he’s terrified of anyone he knows is competent. Your day is coming MM#15. God does not ugly and you are a despicable and weak sorry excuse for a MM. we all know it, Company knows it too. Truth is you bring the pain to your own family you have so maliciously done to so many others!

Just a matter of time you arrogant Piece of Sh--!

I can't speak for your market but I can speak about my old GM. She purposely hired people who were not qualified because she was lazy and liked to pretend to be a big shot. People who wouldn't call her out on her not doing her job well. The club was ran by nitwits and she sat back acting like she was the sh--. If you're no good but managed to become the head honcho and don't want to lose your spot then you don't let others grow. Because one day you will be surrounded by people who actually work and do a good job, and your ignorance will look more amplified.
