Bankruptcy prediction is a cottage industry all its own. If you're really interested, start with Altman Z scores and go from there.

I am the OP of that post from way back then. Seemed pretty obvious to me, but I had a formula that pinpointed a fairly precise date.

@uxt I do not work for SHLD and have never worked for SHLD.

I have a degree based in economics, banking, lending, finance, and business management. Without going into too much detail my degree was obtained from Virginia Tech and I sell high ticket products for a living....I am among the top tier in my field.

I created a formula a number of years ago and included two components that differ from what everyone else uses. One of those components is very, very rarely used. As far as I know the second component is unique to myself....no one else uses it.

I wish I could go into more detail about how I do things, but if I say too much more I will reveal too much and tip off some people that I would rather avoid confrontation with. My approach is proprietary and I would prefer to keep it to myself.

I will probably not be posting much more on this site. This might be my last post.

All I can say is that tomorrow I will be visiting a SEARS location for what will most likely be the final time in my lifetime. I want to see what a somewhat functional store is like while the possibility still exists.

I have a shop full of SEARS and Craftsman tools that my grandfathers and father have passed on to me going back to the 1930's. I have other SEARS products here and there....I'm not a very old person, but I have a great appreciation of Americana, retail history, and marketing. I will always have a fondness in my heart for what SEARS once was... All Americans should understand how big SEARS once was and appreciate what it meant to the American way of life.

Tomorrow will be that one last experience before all h e l l is unleashed in the days to come.

Wish I could say more........

@VBuYuuD-xuz I like your posts, I've bookmarked this thread because of this.

I am curious about your forecasting skills. Do you work here? If not, have you worked here before?

Any other detail you can share?

Also, what, in your opinion were the fatal steps?

Thanks!

It will be Sunday. It was not hard to figure out they would not repay the loan next week

Honestly my predictions from 10 days ago and over 6 months ago might have been clearer to determine than the Chapter 7 or 11 question.

I used a formula I developed to come up with the end date of SHLD. I don't have a formula for Chapter 7 or 11 for this exact situation. I FEEL and BELIEVE that it will most likely be Chapter 7, BUT perhaps the only person who knows the answer for sure is Eddie.

If Chapter 11 comes first I don't think it will take very long at all until it rolls over to Chapter 7. I'm sure Eddie probably wants Chapter 11, but he probably knows that's not going to work.

Things will get very ugly and unfold very quickly. The biggest hurdle will be the availability of liquidators....I really feel for SEARS employees. I have a lot of fondness for SEARS and it's place in the history of Americana.

Be ready for a bumpy ride people..... I saw this coming months and months ago from figures in a formula, but now is when the situation will really hit home for a lot of people.

Take care......

Can’t see them going Chapter 7 yet due to the holidays coming closer so I’m thinking Chapter 11 then end up liquidating come the first week of January

@VBuYuuD-fpe OP props to you to really give it a good guess on Sears preparing for BK. I would love to know your opinion here (as of right now). Do you think Sears will file Chapter 7 of how things look (heavy article that said that the banks don't want anything to do with Sears aka not lending a penny file for Chapter 7 and call it quits) or will it be Chapter 11 (spite that I don't know what this will really fix since we know that if Kenmore goes up for sale PBGC, would want all the Kenmore money).

Say if Sears files for Chapter 11 how much time do you give it where Sears will officially close its doors and shut down for good?

You want to know the funny thing? Both those posts are me. I am the OP of the one from 6 months ago. I am also the person who said to watch at market opening this morning....I was off by a little. But seriously both predictions are mine.

This one is even better, has correct date/time:

"October 11, 2018 9:30AM"

How is that the best answer? They didn't officially file...
