One thing I find ironic here is that Verizon froze both the pension and retiree health care benefits for workers that would’ve allowed them to retire earlier. Now Verizon is wondering why they have so many older workers and are trying to force them out.
It’s like they don’t get the cause-and-effect. Maybe it’s that they don’t really care?
It is over. But I am going to make them lay me off rather than take the package. If you take the package you cannot collect unemployment. They will also likely force you off of the payroll at the end of the year as opposed to March or Sept. One thing is for certain when I leave I am taking all of my business to T-Mobile. Same network quality, less money, and less BS.

I’m 54 will be 55 in 2019, I took the package and my last day of work (from what I’ve heard) will most likely be 12/28/2018... ‘4’ days from the ‘55’ rule (considered exempt from the 10% early w/d penalty) I’ve called HR and was told this would not have any weight on my case to stay to the March 31st date... after 30 years of service?? Are you kidding me VZ?????? We’ll see.... smh.
