What happens if the majority does not take the package

For all RIF'd after this offer .... there would be a class action suit to get the same
benefits offered now. They cannot RIF without making the same concessions.
At least not in the near term.
How soon can RIF's occur if the target is not met is the question ?
@qbu .... I don't think Verizon is much concerned about the press. Really now, just what the hell difference would it make for the press to bounce all over it? None. A business is permitted to RIF all it wants and outsource all it wants and quite frankly, the American people as a whole are so damn lost in their identity politics and there debt that they could care less about a corporate RIF.
I am hearing from many older employees that the cost of medical is too high to go now. For those with kids in high school or college it is $20,000 to $30,000 a year for the family medical plan with the frozen subsidies. And, HR is saying to expect 20% increase year over year. Crazy system we have.
They will get to the targeted number. Their high priced bean counters put together a game plan . The only cog in the wheel will be if they target one group ?, what will the fight be?, and if they have staminia?
What about H1Bs ? They are part of layoff ..
we think we are only hitting around 5% take rate right now. Unfortunately not the bottom 5% of our org.
This packages are a gift. There will be a big reorganization by year end and more RIFs by June. The goal is to reduce headcount by 1/3. If they get 10K takers now they will be happy but want to shed another 10k by year end. It won’t stop. If you stay thinking you are needed think again. You won’t recognize this lace in 18 months.
Then let the RIFs begin. This time the press will have a really good story about how Verizon hires foreigners to fire American workers, export jobs to India and hire bunches of H1Bs.
RIFs will occur if VSP doesnt hit targets.
