Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

No one can do anything about cutting sick and personal time

I am a former employee who took severance pay and lost almost 500 hours in both personal time and sick time. I only got paid for my pro time. Yes, this company set this up when they went into these so called buckets where they separated sick leave, and personal time right before they eliminated some positions, which to date they still continue to eliminate and screw even more partners. Not a damn thing anyone can do about it.

OP nailed it, if you ask me. Originally this was posted by @VDLIYlF-tth on another thread, but was hoping to get some other views on the subject.

Check the policy on the wire. There’s a list of several States that get their personal hours and PTO when they leave the company.

I am surprised a class action law suit has not been filed to keep the benifits we earned.

This is nothing new. The old way you would've been paid remaining vacation time but would lose sick and personal time.

In Ohio, I was only paid my PTO time but lost all sick and personal time ( 225 hours). It’s my own fault that I never called off and used as much of my time that I possibly could like some associates did.

I'm almost sure you only get paid for your PTO time. You lose your personal time and sick leave that was not used. My advice if your position is on the chopping block use all your PTO time first, then your personal time, and remember that sick leave can only be used if one of your family loved ones needs care. Yep, these so called buckets robbed us. I'm wondering if pretty soon they will tell us that if you don't use your PTO time, that too will be lost.

I live in Arizona and I lost 400 hours because only vacation not sick or personal is paid when they let you go in our state

It depends what state you are in. Some get personal time paid out, some states do not. Be mad at your state labor laws not the company.

When my store closed, I got all my PTO and sick time. It was a pretty nice check. Add that to my severance, and I had no worries about getting dumped by the biggest job regret of my life. If this person did not then they should be fighting it. There has to be a mess up somewhere.
