Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The mice are moving in!

I just dealt with a member who returned a washer and dryer the same day it was bought for no other reason than they found mice p--p right on top of the dryer when they unboxed it. All of the washer and dryer boxes have little rectangular holes on top.

I had lunch in the breakroom the other day and heard some scurrying in the ceiling. Others have said the same thing. The store manager keeps saying that it is the HVAC. That was around the same time somebody from softlines swore up and down they saw mice running around in their stockroom. None of the managers believed her but the mouse p--p and the angry member who bought and returned the washer and dryer will confirm it.

Maybe they don't want to believe it for fear of this becoming an unexpected expense. An extermination bill for a large store is easily a couple thousand I suppose.

@scm - Our nearest Kmart is about 50 miles away. Even if there was one down the street, we cannot use ANYTHING outside of what the district facilities managers authorize (cleaning supplies, equipment or pest control). From what I know, there is a catalog you have to order all store supplies from and we don't do pest control, a vendor does it (if we paid the bill).

As for the washer/dryer situation, no, they did not want to buy another one. They were pretty disgusted. Of course they brought up the whole "this is why you're filing for bankruptcy" thing, but it still is not right to have rodent p--p in the merchandise. I think the best thing to do to kerp this from happening again is to have the guys in the back put a piece of sc-ap cardboard over the holes on each washer and dryer carton AFTER they inspect inside each hole for signs of mice and that's if we still have a job tomorrow. I don't know if they are going to be able to do it though, they are still working on freight from as far back as two weeks ago and busy with getting everything set up for the holidays.

That is ridiculous. I guess that would be a silver lining to some stores having lost their QMTs a while back.

@cfh - If we can't bring in something like a fan due to alleged "safety/insurance reasons" (or even "store use" one off the floor), what makes you think we could bring in a bunch of mousetraps? Unlike a fan. Somebody's gotta go around and fetch all the carcasses. If they are not careful they could get diseases, or it could snap on them.

We had a problem with flies this past summer and our store manager brought in a few hanging glue traps for our warehouse from Walmart. The QMT told him that he couldn't use those and since it was not approved, he had to take it down. These are basically strips of really sticky tape with a substance harmless to humans to attract and retain flies and we were still told that they were NOT allowed. You can't even bring in Windex or Lysol wipes, you are ONLY allowed to use what you can buy from suppliers authorized by corporate.

What a bunch of losers. Go buy some mouse traps and take care of the business. Soooooo many whiners on this feed. They should take it down. So counter productive. Go get a job at the 7-11.

The mice keep up on the news too. They know what's going on. They know we are leaving all these the stores soon so they are taking advantage and found themselves a nice, cozy place to live 'til the demolition crew arrives to knock it down.

The mice will eventually damage the wiring in the walls/ceiling, killing that store's ability to operate (if bankruptcy doesn't kill it first) without rewiring that will cost a lot more than pest control would have cost.
