Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Anybody from Sears Canada still checking this board?

It would be great if we could get some insight from people who have already been through this and know better than anybody else what we are looking at in the following months.

I'm not sure if anybody from Sears Canada still visits this page occasionally or if somebody happens to stop by after seeing the bankruptcy news, but I would be really grateful for any info they could provide.

I am still on this thing daily for a few minutes and I left in April after they closed my store. Good luck to all today. And yes, if they did not close my store I would have still been there.

Yes. Lampert's plan from the start was always to squeeze every last cent out of the company. The first stage was lay off 1/2 the people. The 2nd stage was full liquidation. People who were collecting severance were cut off immediately and no new associates received it. Benefits were stopped. And there was a major shortfall in the pension that cost each associate approximately a 30% reduction in what they were already collecting...or expected to collect shortly. Good luck guys.
