Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle Survey

If I still have a job after how I filled out the survey, they must be relatively confidential. I was not offensive but I certainly called out specific EVPs and SVPs on their behavior and lack of leadership. If I recall, I said I trust my direct manager but also wrote that trust is waning every year. I actually have very little reason to trust anything he says because its all been lies and/or inaction for years but he largely leaves me alone. I'm not sure if its him or people above him.

And I was honest on the ones before that as well. Still here.

My opinion is this. Me and my team do excellent work and we have for years. What I've built at Oracle is great. If Oracle does not appreciate what i bring to the table, I really don't care. Let me go - its Oracle's loss, not mine. I'm not going anywhere voluntarily (well, maybe, for the right thing) and I will continue to be a thorn in the side to the nasty empire building managers who make things difficult. I've worked too hard for what I've built to just walk away.

OP: The reason your survey input hasn't come back to haunt you are two fold:

  1. They don't bother reading them.

  2. They just don't care anyway.

I spent 4 years working on an application. I did a good job, I was the only one that knew the code as my manager isolated me and left me alone. It was fine with me at the time, but it was easy for him to make up anything he wanted to say about me behind my back.

Application was moved to India, with no info from me at all. I left after trying to work on something else. What is the point? Anything you do will be destroyed by the stupidity of the management. Your hard work will not be appreciated in the end.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the management, including your immediate manager, who is probably lying to you and manipulating you for his own purposes. Don't waste your time there.

Yes. I know. Your message really does hit home. I was laid off after many years (15 years) I moved around the company and got great experience that has paid dividends. My last position helped me move forward. You need to make the move now. Oracle is not doing well. Outside recruiters are expecting your message/call. They know the company is in trouble. Just ask the next recruiter you speak with about the O. They will say...'what have you been waiting for, O is dead'. Believe me. Get the h.. out.

I was in the same position like you. hard work for many years, above expectations and the manager couldn't care less being busy with his own lies and interests. he also left me alone so I didn't noticed I was wasting my time. smartest guys left, the manager manoeuvres got a lot worse. I couldn't bare it anymore and left everything behind.

I regret I didn't left a long time ago! there is work life outside and if you feel you like a new company go for it. don't get stuck in a job just because you are left alone because it's an expensive illusion.
