Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

No layoffs until after holidays?

Heard from a friend who heard from his manager that we'll have no layoffs until next year most likely. What are the chances he is true and not just full of it?

Totally agree with the below comment, i.e the goal of csco mgmt seems to reduce confidence of the employee that s/he is not worthy of anywhere else and incapable of learning new things, so stay in place and suffer. quite a few in my BU are in that 'lifer' mode - underpaid, unappreciated, ruthlessly used and yanked around for random things, no career planning ... they too are in a subservient mental framework and part of the fault is theirs only.

contd from below...staying in cisco tied to some proprietary OS / stack / hw / merchant chips is limiting oneself to a small mostly struggling set of cos outside. its kind of career death in long term. though my cloud and whitebox work was long ago, people were still willing to consider its quality and match that to their current needs and give me a good chance, which I accepted.

decided to leave on own after 15 years for a better work profile and prospects. luckily i had moved a couple times between BUs and picked up cloud, whitebox and open src skills than remain tied to one product and proprietary hw and sw.

my tactical Go Bag is ready and I am ready to deploy with quick reaction team in 15 mins - just need to hand over my badge and laptop :)

"I can't remember Cisco ever conducting a significant layoff in November or December

What utter rubbish they did one last year and one the year before. It was even the case that the consultation period ended a few days before people qualified for ESPP at the end of December.

stealth layoffs under 50 are not counted in WARN... constant layoffs are bad PR

nov 5th , 1500 in services, including CX (whatever the F that is) and TS, only the partners win, they can get great talent for low pay. V2Momma has no clue.

CX layoffs in first week of November- BDMs, product, and other bits. It's Maria's contribution. Sad to see Bryan leave. He had better vision.

@zxu why are you on this board if don’t work there and have to think about layoff too?

Why do you want to work in the environment, where you have to think about lay-off ?

Not for CX. There is a CX only LR in Nov. Managers already have the list, ask them.
