Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Marlborough MA and Auburn MA Sears are nightmares. Should have been closed awhile back. Other more viable locations were closed and these dead dogs stayed open????

Leominster, MA should close. All the employees do there is surf the net and post on Pebble.

Not surprised to see Willow Grove, PA on this list since it already went from 3 floors to 1 floor with the other 2 being a Primark. Also always surprised that North Wales, PA has survived this long as you never see anyone in there, employee or customer.

@1vxe I'm surprised the Norridge Kmart is among the 142 in this latest round since it's similar to Des Plaines.

Yes! Des plainest was supposed to be the Kmart model store. It was totally redone with huge fan fair. I’m very surprised

How does the Acton Kmart do? It's not on the list.

I'm not sure if there will be any Sears left in MA if the ones under consideration close. A few stores listed for MA are Kmarts but oddly not all the Kmarts in the state are listed. The Somerville Kmart borders the warehouse so although the store is a nightmare, distribution to it was cheap.

Expect all closures from this point onward to be 45-day liquidations.

Wasn't the Des Plaines, Illinois Kmart recently remodeled?

Are any or all stores going to be having "expedited closures", meaning significantly less than the usual 3 months, as was referenced in the original post of this thread?

Woodfield is the official company store. If it closes the whole company is gone.

I'm fairly certain that at least half of these places will be shut down.

I'm really stunned that Woodfield(Schaumburg,IL) is on this list and Spring Hill(West Dundee) is on the other. I thought it would be the other way around.

2885 in Florida is a rat. Mall is being converted to apartments. Buh-Bye.

The Rochester, NY Sears on the review list is the last presence Sears or Kmart has in this city. People will have to drive 60 miles to Buffalo if the Rochester store closes.

Charlottesville, VA SEARS will most likely move to the "closed" list relatively soon. The employees in that store are nice and helpful, but the inventory is not very good and the last few times I was there during what should have been "prime-time" the store was a ghost town.

These stores are listed as "under review." They are NOT closing right now. That decision will not be made until November.

Store 3371 is a Kmart in Chicago that still shows as open for business.

Store 2990 is a Sears in Rockford that still shows as open for business.

7200 Harrison Ave, Rockford, IL 61112 still allows online ordering for store pickup, so I doubt they're in liquidation.

I see zero indication that 3443 W Addison St, Chicago, IL 60618 is closed either.

Rockford Ill is NOT in liquidation.

These look like they are all sears stores?

This must be a real eye opener for all those people who listened to their store manager tell them how great they were doing and would never close. Meaningless metrics do not produce profit and profit drives retail. The old we own the property B S is also a misnomer. It simple means your property is in an undesirable location and they can't find a buyer. Look around you, where is JC Penny, where is Macy's, why is the parking lot empty, Why are most of the stores in the mall empty or small junk shops, a few mall walkers in the AM and a few people in the food court ??? Wake up.

It appears a decision has to be made about these on or before Nov. 15, 2018. Any debtor or Eddie as a stalking horse bidder can move one or more of these into the safe store list should they wish. It is extremely likely none of these stores are profitable, but could become so after nearby stores close, channeling nearby customers into one store.

What needs to be reviewed? Just another way of saying the stores will be closed.

That's a lot of stores..... After all this is said and done, there's going to be a glut of empty stores/retail space.
