Vendors and Personal Shoppers are the first to experience Sears' bounced checks. Vendor payments and commission checks are being marked REFER TO MAKER and returned unpaid as of Monday, along with $29-35 returned check fees charged by the bank. Do not deposit any Sears Holdings check unless you verify they will be honored. In most cases, checks written before Monday's filing are now void.

The lesson here is to stop cashing checks from a d---beat.
I have received three checks from Sears. One in October 2018 which bounced for a $19 bank fee. Sears 'Debtor in Possession' has since sent me two refund checks, one 11/18 and one 3/19. Neither check included the $19 bank fee. I refuse to cash them for fear they'll bounce again, plus, Sears owes me for the fee my bank charged which they are refusing to pay. I have referred the problem to the Ohio Attorney General who keeps "closing the case" and I have had to reopen it.
It's been two months, and several hundred million dollars and loans and millions in executive bonuses along with plenty of media coverage about how people didn't get the checks. When exactly are these checks supposed to come?
Checks written before Oct 15 will bounce because the court had to consolidate the accounts. So new checks are being sent out & Sears is paying for the overdraft fees.
I returned a refrigerator that didn’t work from the get go, Sears said they would mail me a check, I cashed it but it was returned. Now waiting on my second check but nothing. It’s been 4 weeks now!
I take calls for Sears. I am caught in the middle of this. The checks that were dated prior to 10/15/18 are not going to be higher l honoured due to the court freezing that account..BUT there is an email for customers to send their documentation to. Obu@customerservice.sears.com.
Can someone tell me who to call or email? I have a check I just deposited that I desperately needed to pay for my mortgage that was cut from sears and is being rejected with a "refer to maker" with 2 hearty fees. Someone please help.
I also received a check on the 9th of October that was returned “refer to maker”. Is their a overseer on their bankruptcy that can make this right?
spoke with sears about the bounced check today, issuing a new one in 7 to 10 days and making right on the charge at my bank . . . have a transcript copy of communication in my email. Hoping for the best
A check reimbursing me for service under my Sears Protection Agreement was returned unpaid and now I am stuck with a return fee plus the cost of repair. Check was issued 10/9/18 and deposited 10/19.
A check they sent me for food reimbursement bounced this week after a refrigerator failed and Sears fixed it. So I''m stuck with a $169 check charged back to my back account plus a return fee. Called Sears and they said they would be reissuing checks but could NOT give an estimate of when. So the extended warranty that we bought on appliances is probably a worthless piece of paper now. Run from anything Sears now!
The term "refer to maker" is when the owner of the account has requested that a stop payment be issued on the checks "written".
Sounds like another middle finger to the companies who are trying to get paid!!

SHC is about to be permanently referred to it's maker!
Who comes up with this sh-- 🤣🤣🤣
Most of the ones written after Monday's filing are probably void too. Or they soon will be.
