Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Do current GOM AD, E&A, or G&G Ops petrotech personnel really think we are “right-sized” as the VP states?

If so, why has office morale returned to the low levels and stress returned to the high levels seen in the ROMs? The recent employee survey is revealing significant job dissatisfaction despite staff resilience in the wake of the price downturn. Will this lead to more attrition?

Yes, we need to get rid of Petrotechs and load up on those that bring real value like HR, SCM, IT, PGPA, behavior change managers, etc.

Uh, I'm not sure a couple business units are currently right-sized but time will tell. It is clear, however, that many business units are not on board with The Chevron way of maximizing returns and cash flow by efficiently running projects, leveraging IT and technology, figuring out upstream technical best practices, even when such things are handed to them on a silver platter. What can we do with these louts?

of course its not right sized. Nor are most business units and certainly not centralized groups. You only need to look at allocations from ETC, ITC UC and PRC to understand we have a real problem. What a joke. The company needs to do the hard thing for stockholders, investors and itself. Do the reduction needed in DWEP and across upstream. Start with 27 and above that are waiting to be led out

There will always be attention placed on unnecessary costs, non-strategic assets and unproductive efforts and personnel. This is a normal. Nothing new. If you find yourself long enough in the wrong place, move out to a new job or you will be let go. That simple.
