Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Madhouse

So far it's been crazy at the closing stores. Yet the asm are sitting on company computers browsing Facebook and thelayoff during company time all day. They have given up. Cant wait for the liquidators to arrive. Someone has to steer ship.

I would be back there as well. I would probably be on indeed.com or other job sites instead of FB. Just do the bare minimum and stay on the clock as much as physically possible. If you are crazy enough to stay to the end knowing they are already in BK and you are probably not getting severance or even banked vacation time, you might as well get something out of it.

Do you guys really blame them? They bust their asses (at least my asm’s do) and now they’re losing their jobs.

@OP - Take heart in knowing that when the liquidator arrives those managers will not be sitting on their backsides for long. Our SM was the typical lazy and uninvolved SM that you read about on this board. Then the liquidator arrived. At fist our SM was extremely impudent and did everything possible to undermine the liquidator. The liquidator put up with that nonsense for a week. Then the liquidator placed a phone call to HE to report the situation. HE in turn had a little talk with our SM. From that day on our SM was the most obedient and accommodating lapdog you ever observed. The liquidator didn't have any problems with the other managers/supervisors in our store; they toed the line from day one. Just to be clear, our liquidator was not a jerk! Our liquidator was one of the most personable and reasonable people you could ever deal with. Our SM was the jerk!

I thought you were talking about my store until you said the liquidator was in yet. We have the liquidator and the GSM sits in pickup or outside all day and the ASM sits in his office. I think they must be reading the want ads.

Sounds like a fabricated story to me.

Every store is a closing store in reality. The vendors have pulled out and the public has lost even more faith. Sinking 🚢.

As an ASM in a closing Kmart this comment is a little stereotypical. I have put in extra hours and been busting my butt all over the store, so not all of us are lazy and giving up, there is still work to be done and I am still getting paid to get it done.
