No surprise here. Sears’s bankruptcy is going to leave a lot of customers who shopped at Sears open for grabs to the peers. A lot of potential revenue is in play and everybody wants their peace of the pie, so the race begins.
What I found interesting in this article is that it seems that the competitors have been preparing for this for quite a while. The companies mentioned in the article had enough certainty that Sears was going down that far back, that they had the time to strategically position their stores near Sears’s, which they thought were going to close. This just proves to me how unavoidable this was and how everybody from the outside knew this was coming for a long time, while we were drinking the kool-aid and were blinded by promises.
