All Receiving positions and Claims positions have been eliminated. A new position called Back room associate has been created . All associates have the ability to apply for this new position in addition to those displaced. There will now be two full-time back room associates and one part time back room associate . The new position will manage both receiving and claims . The new position also requires the associate to drive a forklift . The schedule will remain somewhat the same ie. morning shifts . The position will be a level C . If you are 39 years old or younger you have 15 days from the date of November 10 to find another position or take severance if you are 40 years old or older you have 45 days to find another position or take severance . So for those 39 and under that will put your last day of work at November 25 for anyone 40 years or older that will put your last day of work at December 7. Severance is offered to those who do not wish to stay.

I’m glad you are certified and I did not say all Claims Associates can not operate a forklift or unload a truck. My club had 2 Claims Associates, neither operate a lift. Can we agree that if you are reapplying for the new Backroom Associate position and do not have a lift license, it will take a couple months to learn and be comfortable enough to unload the often challenging DC trailers or truckloads of paper?
I am a former claims assoc , and Ive driven a lift for years .... Ive loaded and unloaded many trucks. A lot of use were all floor Assoc. at one time and had to drive a lift.

Pro-Tip:
Want more job security? Be forklift certified. While someday robots may unload trucks, rack freight and sweep the dock clean everyday, being able to operate a forklift puts you very high on the food chain. All Backroom Associates will be required to be forklift certified, I image many “former” Claims Associates have little or no lift experience.
That's all we got was job description.
I didn’t get any paperwork! This morning I received a job description
We were told we had to make a decision by November 2 if we were going to stay or take severance. Any one else told this?

I agree no change in my club either. I just won't be a lead. (No big deal) I'm just worried if they change our hours and days.
This really changes nothing at my club. It has been just me and the claims associate in the back for several years and we are a big volume club. We have always helped each other out.
Pay will be the same but yes there will be more of a work load. Where are all these people hearing the pay will be less???? Backroom associate will be a level C, same as a floor TL. (There will be no backroom TL, all associates in backroom are equals).
I'm curious what severance packages are that they offered to 25+year associates.
Dirty SOBees, fire two, and then hire two replacements at lower wages.
We know the company doesn't care, but how in the world will these areas function with less people. Especially high volume clubs with limited receiving hours due to sound ordinances and Claims Associates that do their job right with limited support from the rest of the club. The RTV list should become comical.
first they will go after the rest of us long timers who were not in the eliminated positions before the start on assistant managers...
You lucky sob's! Take the severance and run.
In the frequently asked questions paper we were given it tells you to ask your club manager and they can get the payout amount if your interested. Had mine before I left today.
Everyone seems like this was sudden. We knew this for a long time. Embrace change. We all know that Walmart/Sams are greedy b--tards. Look around. Do you see other associates working. NOPE. They are don't have the payroll. HA Do you ever get a great job cookout? NOPE, you get a hey we need more memberships. I am taking my 32 years f--- you severance and hitting the bricks. It's not worth it. I've seen the company crumble. I am so fortunate to have met Mr Sam. I wish his family had baaaalls and not so much greed. We could have been so much better.
There is no receiving manager.
In our club we were told we could apply or we could take the severance pkg. NONE of us were given any paperwork to explain any of our options or how much our package would be!
Rec. TL here. My GM didn't say anything about severence. If its given I'm taking it. What is the process and where is the paperwork?
What happens to the receiving manager
Our club manager had a meeting and told all the associates that only receiving and claims associates can apply for the new positions if they don't get filled then it would be open to more people but they have the option first.
Where did you get you have 15 days to find a position if you are under 39? My GM told us we had to stay 45 days. The paper I was given states “ An associate who is 39 or younger has fifteen days to consider, sign, and return the Release and Seperation agreeement. The agreement must be delivered or postmarked within fifteen days of reciept, if they wish to receive the severance payment.”
Why the different time lines for different ages anyway?!
I was a former Tech Lead, and I left the company 11 days ago. I remember when the changes to Claims the Club Manager told everyone at the time that no one would lose their position.
Yet here we are.
I feel terrible for the two awesome Receiving associates that I had the pleasure of working with the past three years; they each have been with the company for nearly 3 decades.
With the minimum wage going up to $15, expect Sam's Club to start eliminating even more positions. In addition, the company will expect all current associates to be more productive.
The boat is sinking, and I'm glad I left before it did.
Low volume clubs will only have two full timers high volume clubs will have two full timers and a part timer

You are correct the people in these positions get first shot then if they turn it down it gets open to the whole club. But you do have to go thru interview.

I heard it's only two full time positions
Is the age thing true? My manager didn't seem to have to much information and I wasnt told any of that. I'm 36 so only 15 days? Either way I'm taking severance. How do we go about getting the severence? How long will it take to get it? If I'm taking severence when will my last day be?
Thanks,
TDT
I was show the black and white information that states all associates are able to apply for this new position. The affected associates are not guaranteed these positions. They have to apply and interview just like everyone else. They may not be the most qualified and someone else may get it. Feel free to check with your club manager and clarify what you misheard.
We should all know by now, what ever happens is going to happen.. just a matter of when and to whom. It happens to both hourlies and salaried members of management, sometimes people are eliminated that shouldn’t be and often we wonder why there are some still here.
Either way, you have to embrace it or go elsewhere! No position is ever guaranteed..
Best of luck to all who have been effected, are effected or will be effected in the future..
Wrong. Only those keyed as receiving get to apply at first.. Not open to everyone until receiving/claims associates either decide not to take it or possibly have coaching etc.
Based on your age you are given a specific amount of time to find another position. Associates 39 and under have 15 days as of Nov 10th to find another position. Associates 40 and over have 45 days to find another position. This is something new. Previously when positions were eliminated all associates were given 60 days regardless of age.
What does age have anything to do with this?
All associates have access to the Severance policy on the WIRE. You receive 1 week of pay for every year your are with the company. Example: been with company 12 years you will receive 12 weeks of pay. You weekly pay is based off your last 12 weeks average. You can find this out from your PTC. Meaning not everyone averages a perfect 40 hours every week. So your weekly severance might only be an average of 38.7 more or less of course. So take 12 weeks x average hours x hourly wage= severance. You will be taxed at normal rate but because you are paid in one lump sum expect to be taxed around 30% with no dependents. You can also request what your estimated severance will be from your Club Manager.
Yup. That pretty much sums it up. Not sure why we don’t get the 60 days like the audit team and cash office got. Will we get screwed on the severance as well?
When's Grocery Consumables Compliance Manager getting the axe? When is PTC getting the axe?
You know these Home Office pogs are going to start going after Assistant Managers any day now...
