Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

To everyone that was offered a severance package today.

Please be smart and take the severance. This place is going down. Take that money along with your knowledge and find something better. It is out there!

All back room associates will be a level c some clubs have more associates allotted for the position based on club volume

I am the lead in receiving and I was told we do not lose pay.

The current receiving team lead would be the only one who would lose pay. Claims associates and dock/clerk would stay the same. Either way there are only 2 FT jobs and one PT Job available for the back room now

"I bet the new position is a level or 2 lower, so you would lose some pay"

If you people don't know what your talking about don't post. If you are chosen for the new backroom position you will be a level C....you will not lose any pay.

I'm curious what severance packages are that they offered to 25+year associates.

I am not sure on the severance agreement. Usually it's 60 days to find a new posi5or leave, bit someone on here said they didn't get offered that.

@1bzg you don't start over with pay, but I bet the new position is a level or 2 lower, so your would lose some pay.

I'm the invoice clerk and was told I'm ineligible for one of the dock positions. I think it has to do with having a coaching.

So how long do we have to decide on if we want severance? If I take severence when will my last day be?

@1hrj - because we have done it! Can you not read? He said it already. We worked our way UP to a position we loved and learned more than anyone else in the club. Including GMs. Nothing is wrong with working around and for members. But to take a different position, is stepping down. Unless you want to be a manager and bahahahaha on that!

I am a 28 year associate, been the receiving clerk for 18 years. I was told that I could apply for the new position but our full time claims clerk was told she could not. She was told it was a HO decision. Was anyone else told that?

25 years wasted. I worked in every area of my club except fresh. 16 yrs as receiving clerk. My club is going down down down. After these many years you see what's happening. I'm taking my severance package and then unemployment. When you come to work one day and the doors are locked you will be lucky if you get a severance package. All of us today that were eliminated take yours and run and dontt look back

Take the advice and run!! I was in audit and they took my position away. I admit, I was scared to look elsewhere. I got a different position in the club. I regretted it. Sam's is a building filled with unorganized, lazy cluelessness from every angle. So when my lucky day came and they closed my store, I didn't think twice about leaving. I have also never been happier.

I’m a 22 year receiving clerk and was told I can not apply for backroom but can apply in the fresh area!!! How many Receiving clerks were told this!?!?

It's funny how those (I'll refer to them as lazy) people who say time to go work with members and get out from the backroom and blah blah are ignorant. Most of us in the backroom already did all that. We worked our way up. We did it right. We did what you're supposed to do in a job. Now that we are here, we are told to go back down? Where is this considered ok? Sam's club, that's it. I will be damned if I worked my butt off for a company and then they reward me by saying, go back to where you started. No thank you! Give me my money. I am gone!

'Welcome to retail and I’ll see you on the floor helping out awesome members and fellow associates.'..???

Keep drinking the kool-aid dumb-a--. I'm a 24 year associate lead, and if you can't see the writing on the wall, call Stevie Wonder to borrow a pair of his shades... You're just an expendable number. Sam Walton would be so proud of what his greedy kids have done to this company. I'm OK with change so the company doesn't end up like sears, but it what they keep taking away. The profit sharing plan with this company used to be awesome, but now all we're left with is Sam's Share, which at the most is a couple of thousand dollars... A twenty plus year associate would get way more then that in profit sharing.... Sunday's used to be time and half, taken away, but we'll give you an extra $1.00 an hour... Nope, taking that away as well... Now you get regular pay... And btw... Members s---.... Especially on EBT day when our counts of pajama wearing members skyrockets... Make sure those pallets of rice are filled!

Hi there. I am a former receiving team lead at a club that was closed in January. My invoice clerk and myself took the payout and ran. Best decision both of us ever did. Better jobs, better benefits, less bs and stress. Best decision ever. I know it seems like a hard decision and changeling outside your comfort zone is even harder, but there are other good companies out there! Even my night receiver who transferred to another club to do the same exact position learned the grass wasn't any greener left after 2 weeks. Now he has a much better job as well. This door closing will force you to open another door and find something better, but only if you have the courage to look.

Binders ?????

The binder mentality is a thing of the past . If you haven’t grasped that the world and Sams has changed to a tech based company you need to go away.

Most of the people that work in receiving or claims have always worked back there so they don’t have to talk to the paying memebers.

Welcome to retail and I’ll see you on the floor helping out awesome members and fellow associates.

The contents of the binders can disappear in the trash. 😉

Actually the binders are company property even if you made them. Walk away clean. Take a minute to clear job preferences because if they offer you a position and you don't take it...you will loose severance. I took severance..best day of my life. Take care everyone.

I have been waiting for this day! I am taking my severance and running (not walking) out the door! Along with me, I am taking everything I know. I am leaving nothing behind. No binders with information, nothing. Let John and Giselle figure it all out since they are the ones who have this big master plan.

Those that stay, will come to regret it. I promise.
