I survived an absolutely agonizing day only to get home to my calendar waiting in the mail. I joked with my wife that we could open the door and smell the smoke of UP calendars burning all over town (only half kidding). When I opened the package and saw the front cover, I was taken aback. The iconic image of the golden spike ceremony brought me back to why I love working for UP...and it deeply saddened me to think of the direction the company has taken the last few years. Whether we are reporting for work tomorrow or not, we all lost today. To those of you who where layed off today, may you find a safe and fruitful landing. For those of us who remain, I fear we have witnessed the new norm for the foreseeable future.

I was quite upset when I checked the mail when I got home today and saw that.
No kidding... I almost vomited... I can use it to start my fire pit!
