Thread regarding Sears layoffs

When will layoffs begin?

"Will there be any layoffs sooner cause with so much going on and sears claiming its business as usual, people are going bit crazy. "

This is exactly what I've been wondering. We know layoffs are coming, nobody is stupid enough to doubt that. So just sitting and waiting is starting to be really, really unnerving.

Hopefully they let us know soon.

They will liquidate the most recently closed stores to get an influx of cash, which will go out as soon as it comes in. This pre-Christmas influx of cash will allow them to last until Dec. and then they will file Chapter 7. Layoffs at HE coming. Massive layoffs

Can't wait to see the looks on their faces when the vendors come to retrieve their product. How are they going to tell us "business as usual" then?

Ya in our seats they keep saying our store is doing great we are a good store. Every day they say that but we never meet sales goals. Softlines makes there but none of hardliners and big ticket in HA.we haven’t made sales in a long time..all they worry about is Pa’s and SYW. Even we can’t do store 2 home we’re at 30 percent for month. It don’t let u put in cart to check out. Managers say that’s not an excuse.. don’t see them trying to get that fixed! It’s easy for management to say just do it,get it done and then go sit in office.we all know what’s going on just waiting for end to come to our store that they say is doing so well!!!!!!

I think ch7 will come more quickly than most people think. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in the next couple of weeks.

"Business as usual"... latest flavor of the month.

This is NOT business as usual: managers hiding their faces, no product available, cant get orders places... maybe business as usual for the incompetent management driving the company to the ground... managers keep saying "this will be resolved soon".... like when ? When they file chapter 7 type of soon?

The fact that they are saying “business as usual” and there have been no headcount reductions signals to me that they are scrambling just to get the minimum of requirements done for chapter 11. There is no plan for transformation. The pebbles about not being able to get product to sell are brutal.

The company is bleeding money so fast, it will be lucky to last the rest of the year or partway into 2019.....in which case everyone will be laid off when the company files Chapter 7.
