Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

What are the details in the severance you were offered?

I have seen a lot of questions on here about the severance from yesterday. Seems management wasn't very clear. No surprise there! So can people give details to the severance they were offered? Do you get the 60 days or not? Do you have to stay the 60 days in order to get paid? Anything you can give is appreciated.

All I know if you guys better go clear your preferences out if the wire. Get the money and go go go!

You have to work the 45 days. They will want you to train others on your job. Just act really busy or they will put you in other places to help on the floor. The time you will actually have for training will be small. Even if you gave them all your time, there is no way they will learn it all. Just do what you feel then disappear when your day comes. You just got your life raft from the Titanic.

They don't have to give 60 days for this. This is not a mass layoff. It is 4 or 5 people per club. Walmart has many lawyers they know what they legally have to do. Plus if you take the severance your last pay check will be one check before the holiday bonus check so they can screw us one more time before we leave.

No , stay .... take every last cent from this Company. Sit and twiddle your thumbs all day , walk around and do nothing like everyone else. Use your last checks and give your family a Very,Very Merry Christmas from Walmart. Oh, remember to shop Amazon , Whole foods . Dont leave .... and surely dont give out your knowledge. I dont know ..... are three good words.

Do we really have to stay the 45 days ? What are we suppose to do ? No one is saying anything , so I sit half the day reading . Do we have to sit and watch them pick our replacements ? I've heard from when the Audit team left, that we can opt out early if your GM approves .... is that right ?

They gave us a 45 day notice and you have to work that to get your severance package.

Just like the person that asked if he/she would be offered severance, I have been on disability since last year 2017 and am definitely over 40. I continue to pay my insurance and receive 60 percent of my check based on my hourly pay. Therefore, I am still employed by Sam’s. How would they determine my hrs worked? Would it be the 40 percent plus the 60 percent I receive monthly should determine what my last 12 weeks is payroll is based upon? I am a 30 plus associate.

When the audit position was eliminated we were required to work the full amount of time given to decide or else you lost your severance. I messed with them and didn’t tell them I was staying until the absolute last day. My audit lead told them the day it was announced she was leaving and was told to either work the time told or forfeit her severance.

The WARN ACT does require a 60 day notification. There are a few exceptions, but even in those cases the law says they have to provide written notice if why they were unable to provide the 60 days required by law. We were not given anything like that. Just a question and answer packet to frequent qusetion BS . Not even a thanks for your 20-30 year dedication to this company. Not a thanks for coming in and working on your kids birthday to make sure things were covered. Not a thanks for giving up time with your loved ones whenever the club needed anything....just a few pages of c-ap telling us we had 45 days until termination if we do not find another position. THANKS WALMART!!!

I am on loa. Is it an average of your last 12 weeks worked? If so, I'm screwed out of any severance.

Ok so is there a certain time we have to notify that we are taking the severence? If we take the severence do we still work the 45 days?

It is one week severance for each year of service. They take your average hours worked Times your hourly wage to determine your $ amt for the week then take that by how many years you have been there.

The thing is, I thought it was federal law to provide 60 says notice of a restructure.
