@ysu Yes, it can, but that would be rare, as long as the company is still operating. Zero value stock (not even a fraction of a cent) would mean nobody is willing to buy it anymore no matter how cheap. Short-term speculators/day-traders will most likely keep it bouncing along for a few cents until the whole company shuts down.

Here's some advice from an investing forum about getting rid of worthless or nearly-worthless stock (not worth paying trade fees to get rid of):

"First of all, if it has any value at all even a fraction of a cent, then sign a release form with your broker to remit the certificates back to the company and clear the equity from your account, in other words turn the worthless stuff in to the company's transfer agent for nothing, (no fee involved),why pay a fee when you get perhaps $5 value for a $20 plus trade fee, keep your account record when it shows deleted, then print out the most recent (same date as the release)pink sheet, OTC,(where most no-value and bankrupt issues trade, such as Enron,United Airlines, Williams,World Com etc:)chart and quote to preserve the market value data to show just how worthless it was.If its bankrupt equities, you must take the tax claim in the year its declared via court orders to be final or in the year the reorganization plan is approved and final by the court."
