Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Our jobs are not what they used to be

It is really sad that we have to always be on edge about our jobs. Our jobs are not what they used to be. We cannot plan our lives. We cannot buy anything that is expensive like a new house or new family car. Every time there is a Town Hall meeting we are shaking in our boots. This really s__ks. The end is near, but when I do not know. We have to stay until the end so we can get some kind of buyout.

This post was taken from another thread (@VBZgHsK-eivu ). Couldn't agree more with the OP

I'm not saying it's not. But we won't here anything for at least another year. Nothing will be announced in november.

The shareholders aren't going to like hearing this. We've been losing money for years in NA. Changes are coming. DSD is a dinosaur in this day and age. Stores want control. Believe what you want.

Shareholder conference Monday, town hall on Thursday I believe. They keep canceling. Anyways I'm sure we will get some kind of clarity this week. I wouldn't be surprised that some kind of downsizing will be announced. There's been a lot of full time positions posted on indeed lately. My guess is less reps with more order writer's for 2019.

My Walmart friends are telling me that by the 1st of Jan we're done. Definitely going warehouse in there. Category rack goes away in November also. It's not on their action alley features app anymore.

Shareholders conference Monday. Our conference shortly after. DSD isn't going completely away yet. Reps will be cut in half I'm hearing. Reps will be offered a severance. By 2020 we're pretty much all gone. We will have a format like Keebler at that point. A remaining few. Good luck all! Sorry to break the news.

If that's the case what are the other U.S. announcements coming on the 1st and 15th? Looks like they already placed the new BU for the U.S.

Something's going down! Wait and see.

Its simply the seperation of the US and Canada into two seperate BU's. 5 years when they combined Canada and the US they had simular meetings and announcements. Zero to do with DSd. Those announcements may come at some point..

No conclusions here. Sounds like something's in the works. What the heck is Go Live? Canada dropped DSD years ago and now the U.S. is being phased out.

Here's the letter from Glen Walter

Dear NA Colleagues,

As you saw from this morning’s global communication from Dirk, we are embarking on an exciting new chapter across MDLZ. I’d like to take a moment to share a bit more about what this means for us here in North America.

I’m pleased to share that I will continue to be the NA Region President, with direct accountability for the leadership of the U.S. Business Unit (“BU”) and oversight over the Canadian BU. I have great confidence in the potential for growth across the U.S. and Canada, and believe in the power of “local-first.”

U.S. and Canada as Business Units

Business Units - Our Center of Gravity Moving ForwardAs Dirk shared, we’ll establish 13 Business Units across our global organization. Here in North America, the U.S and Canada will represent two of the 13 BUs.

Each of these Business Units will be the center of gravity in our business moving forward. They will be accountable for winning in their local markets with their consumers, and will manage their local P&Ls with ownership of brand building and innovation agendas.

With the creation of two BUs in our region, we will be able to provide the appropriate level of focus and resourcing to drive both our U.S. and Canada businesses--- with the right capabilities and investments to support our strategic ambitions. Specifically:

Building upon on our strengths in areas of the business that are working well

Addressing areas that are not yet working or in need of improvement

Ensuring clear focus, ownership and accountability

Our Path Forward

Bringing this new chapter to life in our organization and delivering on this ambitious growth agenda will require a few significant shifts, both in mindset and in our structure.

As we stand up our U.S. and Canadian Business Units, we are putting in place dedicated leadership teams in each market who will be empowered and accountable for driving our strategy locally, effective January 1, 2019.

US BU Leadership Team

Canadian BU Leadership Team

Today, I’m pleased to share the leadership appointments for the U.S. BU. Please click here for the organizational announcement. My overall leadership team will be comprised of leaders and functions which have primary responsibility and accountability for the U.S. business and, in a few instances both the U.S. business and additional oversight responsibilities for Canada.

US BU Leadership Team as of January 1, 2019

Canada is a strategic market, for both North America and MDLZ globally. As we establish our new Canada BU, we will be appointing a President to lead this important business. We are currently in the process of finalizing that selection, and we will share more details once we have confirmed the appointment. Once that is complete, we’ll be working through confirming the team which will drive our Canadian business moving forward. As shown above, the Canada BU will have full E2E leadership and structure to support our Canadian growth ambition.

Key Milestones

I encourage everyone to take the time to read today’s announcements and make time to connect with your teams and local leaders. Following today’s communications, between now and our January 1 go-live, the key milestone dates are as follows:

November 1: Organizational Announcements for U.S. LT+1 and Canada LT

By November 15: Organizational Announcements for Remainder of U.S. & Canada BU Roles

November 15 through End of Year: Planning & Ways of Working for Go-Live

January 1, 2019: GO-LIVE of U.S. & CANADA BUs

Today’s announcements represent an important step as we focus on putting the right organization in place to deliver on our strategy and growth ambition. While I know it may seem unsettling to not have clarity on the full organization and teams today, you’ve got my commitment that we’re working diligently to provide you with further details and ensure we do what’s right to set our U.S. and Canadian businesses up for success.

As these changes won’t be in effect until January 1, 2019, my ask of you is to continue to focus on delivering Q4 to close out this year strong and set us up to deliver 2019.

I’m looking forward to leading us on this new chapter and to working with all of you to bring “Snacking Made Right” to life across the U.S. and Canada.

Best regards,

Glen Walter

We have an announcer nov. 1 with a follow up BY the 15th according to email and announcement we received couple weeks ago.

Sounds like we are. Wing offered severance on the nov 1 announcement and have about 2 weeks until the 15th to accept or not. Then the ones who are left after the severance and nov. 15 will have new cars ordered

I expect another 30% sale rep layoff similar to last one. We getting more order writers to fill the gaps like last time? Who knows..

i think it depends if we are still dsd in Walmart after first of year. We may be full dsd in other accounts and have a different Walmart structure by then.. and if that's the case dsd as we know it cannot be sustained for very long before it's completely gone

They want to know that you want to buy your car by nov. 1... the car will not be taken to auction until you turn it in at the dealer when you pick up your new one. They just want to know so they can make plans with the dealer when the new car order is placed

Same here. I ordered my car month's ago. I haven't received the order submission either. All I received from lease plan is how I can buy my current cruze for 8,900. The email said that I needed to respond by November 1st or my car will be auctioned off. I don't have my new car so how can they auction off my current car without receiving my new car?!?!?!?!?!

And to add to that, I ordered my new car weeks ago. We normally get an email from leaseplan shortly after saying the order has been submitted to the factory and couple months later I get the car.

I have not received that order submission email yet.

Dsd is not ending.... yet...

I believe we will have sales rep layoffs at first of the year with that announcement being made with the November news. And probably some big structure change to dsd.

They want the new car orders in and ready to go for those that are still around and the ones that take the severance or get pushed into forced retirement they will simply cancel those car orders.

Everything I've been hearing last few years is 2020 is the big one. I think there will still be reps around after that in some form. Similar to Kellogg's or Hershey in some way. But not many..

Whenever you order a new car, you are given the option to buy your old one at wholesale price instead of turning it in at the dealer when you pick up your new one. Otherwise they sell them at auction.

It has nothing to do with dsd going away in anyway. Over the years I've had probably 15 new cars and this is how it works every time

Meeting. The reason why I ask is because I received a email from lease plan asking me if I wanted to buy my car. It said I needed to let them know by November 1st. Why would I need to buy the car if it's already leased through Mondelez? Why would I need to buy the car? I'm very confused. Anyone else receive a email like this?

Haha! You're funny! Get out of denial. DSD is ending! It's not just on this site. Store's are telling me. Go look at the wall street and nasdaq articles. DSD is dead! You non believers will soon find out.

DSD is no doubt ending, retail is changing! How do think retailers plan to pay for all these changes? New warehouses for Kroger, home deliveries, click list, and on and on! It to mention the price war!

Only you make yourself a victim though! If you feel the that way, take back control of your life. The few months at best of severance isn’t worth that kind of misery! Dont get me wrong, Mondelez s---s!

No one is on edge about our jobs. The only fake news about us getting out of DSD is currently on this site. I have not heard anything different in the field from any one. It will be a long time before something changes or if we do eventually exit DSD.
