Chevron settles EPA allegations for violating the Clean Air Act

As the article states, Chevron agreed to pay a fine of approximately $3 million and agreed to invest $150 million into its refinery infrastructure to reduce the risk of air pollution, as part of the settlement with the EPA. If anybody is interested in the details, here’s the link to the article.

The Richmond Refinery is used as a hostage for the State of California. The government demands Chevron for ransom money every chance it gets. Do you now understand why it will one day cease operations as a refinery? Can you see why one day, Chevron will have to abandon Cali and move to Houston?

You are both as stupid as stumps. Read the news. The EPA investigation was a direct result of the Richmond disasters. The repairs to piping are required at all facilities to prevent repeat catastrophes. The fines resolve many California state and county actions against Chevron Downstream for being managed by mo--ns and operated by chimpanzees.

No, it does not. The fines are imposed by the EPA (federal agency) not a CA agency. So California Bay Area has nothing to do with it. If the news appeared in the Houston Chronicle, would you blame the TCEQ for a fine imposed by the EPA and suggest (god forbid) moving Chevron's operations out of Texas? I don't know what I have for brain, whatever it is, it seems to be working fine.

What has CA got to do with it? The fines are related to the Pascagoula Refinery in Mississippi assessed by the EPA, read the article. How will moving the HQ help with fines and penalties?

I’ve said this many times before..... Chevron

will only take so much cr@p from the California government and environmentalists. It won’t take too much longer before the Richmond Refinery is closed down and converted to a bulk fuel depot. Goodbye to most of its employees and goodbye to the gravy train the local and State government rakes in every year in taxes. They’ll regret it all when it’s too late. If California b!tches too much after that, Chevron will pull up stakes and move the HQ to Houston.
