Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Overheard something interesting

My store manager was talking to someone on the phone, maybe the district im not sure, and I heard him talking about black friday being planned for the final

sears liquidation. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

@nqp - The only time our SM closed their office door is when they wanted to take a snooze!

I have not heard exactly that, however, it would make sense to begin final liquidation on black Friday. Shipments would stop and the stores would close when empty. This plan though would actually make sense and be a quality use of resources, so I doubt that Sears will do this

Agreed. Black Friday will be liquidation. The only resource Eddie can save by keeping Sears alive through is the 900 million dollars in tax credits that it can receive if it exits bk. Odds are low that it will happen. If it does, then Eddie will use those credits to acquire another profitable company and still kill Shldq. Once bk court rules against that possibility, Eddie will throw in the towel.

@nqp I'm guessing that it's one of those store managers that has pretty much given up on Sears but has to do just enough to keep the job (including going along with the pro-SHLD nonsense) until they're able to jump ship!

Surprised that a phone conversation of that nature did not happen behind closed doors.....Our SGM always shut his door to his office whenever he had phone calls not meant to be overheard by others.

Wouldn't be surprised if that were true.
