Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I opted in!

I opted in at 6AM the day it opened. I have enough in 401K, Pension and an IRA to be more than ready.

I would have been happy with a regular RIF package so this 60/60 version is like winning the lotto. My boss knows I have long been ready to exit and has said he will not contest or try to keep me past 12/28.

As far as work, I am wired to be ethical so I am still doing the right thing. I am still supporting my employees to the best of my ability and putting full effort into my job responsibilities. What I am not doing anymore is stressing about any of it. I've stopped keeping up with email 7 days a week from the time I get out of bed all the way until bedtime.

Business hours only now. Man am I sleeping better and no one has died as a result of my "slackness". I also find all the ranting and raving from customers on various issues, while still needing to be addressed, does not cause me near the level of stress and angst it used to. I just apologize for their "life ending crisis" and do the best I can to resolve it.

If they threaten to go over my head, I just provide them the contact info. It's like I have been given a parole date and just need to be on good behavior, adhere to the Code of Conduct and not cause any trouble for about 42 more business days. I can do that standing on my head.

What if the upper level management wants you stay since the business still needs you for a few more years? Will they deny you without your knowledge? I imagine it is hard for you to change your head on 12/10. It will probably not change their decision if you just provide them the contact info.

@epk, thanks for the clarification. For a moment there, I thought I was experiencing déjà vu all over again.

How flattering! Someone liked my post so much in this prior thread that they claimed it as their own and started a new thread.

You might want to double check your accounts after this weeks mess, especially if you are going to start to dig into it. Hearing some have lost allot of money at least on paper, but not everyone is not going to be the same.

Yep, entire customer facing groups got it. The only catch there would be they won't let them all go, that's where they will probably deny some. That's why they have caveats in place.

"What ever Liar the people who are eligblenare not customer facing you id--t"

Prior to name calling, make sure your facts are straight. There ARE, in fact, people who were offered the VSP that are customer facing employees.
