Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Too late, but question is why they had to choose layoff for 10B savings

Instead, VZ should have cut 10% of employees salaries including executives salaries (penalizing everyone instead of punishing bottom most employees who does the work), which would have saved more then 10B dollars if the company is at the loss or needed the money instead of letting employees go or bringing Infosys in between.

I prefer the VSP option personally for my own situation. But do agree that the VSP is a reflection of poor executive management through the years.

Had there been a recent large scale acquisition recently, then VSP makes sense. But for VZ this is a reflection of not having balls to make tough decisions in the past.
