Nov 10th is the official beginning of the new backroom positions. As of that date you will not be keyed as a claims or receiving associate. If you interviewed & was chosen as a backroom associate that is the day it will become active in the system. If you did not interview or was not chosen then from Nov. 10th till Dec 7th you will work wherever your club Mgr wants you to work. Some will want you to stay in the back to train mgrs or backroom ppl to do the things that the new app doesn’t explain (which is a lot). Whenever you send in the paperwork for your severance, it will take 3 pay periods before you will receive it (6 weeks).

We really are better off than some. We will get 3 paychecks in Nov & our last one will be Dec 13th. You do have to stay until Dec 7th to get the severance. So basically we have 2 weeks left in our current rolls. I’m just going to clean up the little things so that the new ppl can start fresh. It’s not their fault so I’m not going to make it hard on them. At the same time I am not breaking my back anymore because obviously it is not important. I truly feel sorry for the new ppl. We had 4 full time & 1 part time in claims & receiving due to our volume. Now they have got to the same job with 2.9 ppl. Well, not my problem anymore.

When I was in audit they said we had to help train the leads and managers to take our place. It was in the paperwork. With you technically not having a position anymore, it will free up your time to train. But I say be as vague or as clear as you want. It doesn't matter what you teach them, they will never learn the ropes of a receiving lead or clerk. Just teach them enough to get by. Then walk out the door and never look back.

Why should we have to train them ? Let the HO do it

It states on the wire a severance request can not be made until 14 days prior to termination. It doesnt take long to get the amount anywhere from a couple hours to a few days tops.

I was told by my GM that I DO NOT have to stay til December 7th. If I decide to take the severance, I can go leave after November 10th.

You can request severance pay prior to Dec 7th if you do not wish to take a different role in the company. A severance request for the exact amount, not estimate, can be provided and the associate can go.

You can stay until Dec. 7th and wait to see if another position opens. You need to let them know before Dec 7th if your taking the severance. The back room positions will be filled starting Nov. 10th. From what I was told if you decide to leave before Dec 7th (got another job outside Sams) and want the severance it has to be approved by your GM and district manager.

You stay until December 7th. If you do not find another job in the club by then that is when you automatically take severance. If that is what you want to do then clear your career preferences and just wait it out. You cannot leave any sooner.

That is correct! If you have not obtained another position within the company by Friday, Dec 7th then that will be your final day . then you will be given your Severance Info and packet to view and return.
