Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

IBM+RedHat NOT good for Dell-EMC and VMware

I've been out of Dell for a while now, but I would recommend to others that are still there to be prepared for some fallout from the recent IBM and RedHat announcement. This gives Carl Icahn all of the ammunition he needs to shut down the public offering plans through the VMware tracker stock. VMware has utility and worth, but Dell-EMC is an albatross hanging around its neck...or worse, a vulture ready to pick the bones clean. If Dell is successful in going public, rest assured that there will be some significant house-cleaning in the new organization.

If Dell cannot go public to access new capital and EMC cannot contribute enough in earnings to pay down the staggering debt, it's going to be really, really bad for everyone. A no-win situation here.

IBM is just another bureaucratic innovation destroyer. Redhat will be converted into a pile of sh-- under this creature. Not much different than what Dell is. I personally doubt it will be a threat.

"Will IBM turn RedHat into OS/2? Maybe I should migrate away from CentOS."

:->. Good one. I actually loved OS/2 back in the day. So much better than any Windows release, but I digress.

For hybrid cloud, IBM+RedHat will be a major competitor now. VMware would be better off cutting its ties with its overlords. Those who don't leave on their own will be forced out as Dell dies by a thousand cuts.
