From a former FSA
These 3rd party contractors aren't going to give lowes their dedication and they could care less about cleaning the restrooms etc as long as they get paid
I was an fsa who took pride in my work Akways
This is a dumb decision by the new ceo
Very dumb

I believe FSA stands for Facility Service Associate. It doesn't stand for bathroom cleaner. The FSA was responsible for the general day to day maintenance of the store. When we have to have outside companies come in to fix maintenance issues it can take weeks and sometimes up to a month. So who's going to take care of maintenance issues that can happen on a daily and weekly basis. Also if we as employees have to give a two week notice why can't the employees be given the same courtesy. With so many of us living paycheck-to-paycheck it's not right. Yeah I get It get real it's a big corporation. This is k–ling moral, everyone is looking around saying who's next. They give us these badges like we are supposed to be proud of how long we've worked at Lowe's. I guess that's just for show for the customer, because it obviously doesn't mean anything to Lowe's.

I almost could understand eliminating the PSI program as it was badly managed and hemorrhaging money, but they could have restructured it to benefit the company as the main problem was the contractors not doing their job, the FSA and pick up desk clerks is ridiculous since that means others in the store will be pulled off the floor to do the assembly and clean....in spite of what is being said. The dept manager to service manager program was a joke since it didn't last at all, now we have dept supervisors again. the RTM is rumored to be the next on the block.....its getting out of hand fast.

They need to eliminate some of the 10 manager on duty positions they have, they are never on the sales floor and forget about getting one out of a chair in the back of the building when a customer asks for one of them.

I worked at Lowes for 2 yrs before I hurt myself away from work, I am retired and just wanted to work16-18 hrs a week just to interact with people and sell products ,2 yrs ago it was a great place to work, everyone was happy and lots of camaraderie and I slowly started seeing Lowes changing, fellow employees attitudes started also changing. The new head guy from Penny’s was hired and all the changes being made really make no sense. The work force has been cut back so much that now the stores are getting the unkept look ,I remember talking to fellow employees and telling them about this guys (Marvin) former career and basically sending J C Penny Company on their downward spiral to now under $1.00 a share and a future death like Sears.. Prediction about Marvin...Board of Directors will see the death spiral for Lowes begin or has begun and send him packing. This Guy is hoping to show a profit by cutting work force and overhead instead of shining the place up and doing the basics of treating customers to a great buying experience..it used to be that way only a couple of years ago. I wonder when the Veterans 10% discount goes away..Sadly Lowes has lost their focus..Thanks Marvin!!! and advise to Bill Ackman you went all in buying 1Billion $$ of stock..should have shorted it instead..

i worked for home depot for several years.
And you guys all say the same things as we did then, and that was 15 years ago! 🤣 Its teue you are all jist numbers and not people, but to a corporation you always were even if u didnt feel like it.

Unfortunately, shareholders, maximizing profit, constantly opening new stores are all expensive, and labor is the easiest thing to cut to continue the actions listed above.

Its to bad more corporations dont do what winco or costco do. rhose guys love their jobs and pay for the most part, proud to work at those places.

i was never proud of home depot. c-appy managers, work overloads, rotten scheduling.... It was 5 years id rather forget.

Sorry for all of you that were affected and wish you all the best

I feel very badly about the fsa and assembly people being let go but in reading all the comments about not being given notice sort of confuses me. Maybe a lot of people didn’t live through layoffs in the 80’s. You would have a job one day and could have been there for years, then be told, we have to let you go. Here’s a check for the hours you worked. Good luck to you.
Since those days, I hold my breath ever day before I go into work, whether it be LOWES or any other place I worked for, wondering if I will be getting the axe.
It’s a sad world that we live in. You have to fend for yourself.

I have worked for Lowe's for years and this condensing that to put "more people on the floor" strategy has never worked and never will unless Management wishes up. Each store is visited monthly at least by a DM and usually quarterly by RVP. The amount of hours that are put into "shining up" the store for a visit are sickening. IF there is good leadership in the store we would not have to bathe and wax it all the time. Overnights, long shifts - all customer based hours that are being taken away for a monthly dog and pony show prep. It's disgusting and not fair to our customers. Oh, and let's not be nieve here - there will still be in store assembly! Outside assemblers are going to come in for bulk assembly, there will still be someone from flooring, plumbing or whoever else is available to go in the back and assemble for an angry customer. When that happens the "extra person" on the floor disappears and you have more angry customers looking for help that is in the back. Lowe's wake up and learn from your mistakes. Marvin, you are better than this!

Quoted from a news articles, “A spokeswoman for the Mooresville, North Carolina-based company said in an emailed statement that the move will allow store workers to "spend more time on the sales floor serving customers."”

How can workers spend more time servicing customers when they were shown the door?

As a customer, I'm surprised that Lowes had this many people to lay off. They've become notorious for not having enough staff on hand, and there's never anyone around to ask a question about products. I don't see how they can survive operating like this.

Good luck to all of you that got laid off. I feel for you.

The walked out both our FSA and the Assemblers yesterday with zero notice to the employees, But apparently our managers got a 2 hour heads up and a list of names to hand walking papers too. Now our whole store is freaking p-ss-d and trying not to show it.

Yes, corporations are hurting hard working people, because you don't get a vote. You can buy 10 shares and get 10 votes, but when your CEO get $15000000 in stock options you might as well be voting for the opposition in Russia or North Korea for all the good it'll do you.

The answer is worker coops. Carvin Marvin would be out on his a– where he belongs. Niblick would've been too. We wouldn't be running on DOS or scavenging for damn beam labels or any of the rest of it because anyone in power who continued to allow those conditions would be laughed out of the room instead of being voted in by the board of directors.

The answer is democracy in the workplace.

We need to stop Big companies from hurting hard working people in this great country. It's not all about profit big companies. It's about hard working people. Employees come first. Not Ceo's. Not goverment. Employees first always. It's we rhe people, not we the goverment. Our goverment won't help us. Wake up all and stop this are selfs. Stand up to corp. greed and bad goverment. Enough is enough. America hard working people put are foot down and it stays down now FOREVER! Don't like your job. Pay s—s. Company don't care about you. Don't work for them, shop at there stores, support them now. This applies to all stores not just Lowe's. America. Let's stop it NOW. Too many greed! Change happens NOW! NOW!

Awww hell with them, just quit shopping from the pricks and maybe will get luck and the will go under. Companies have to much power and the laws almost always back them up , use to be they had to have a reason to fire you or rereduction to force then they have to pay unemployment I mean you worked for it but yet they get out of it, now they can do what they want and still manage to get some big right of from the government . We the people need to stand up and take are country back from corrupt companies and government. We didn't go to work for them to get sh– on and government we didn't vote ( hire ) them to take advantage of US , we put them in office to complete a job if they can't do just that why are they getting payed and pampered. Replace them with some one who can and will. Just some thoughts off the top of my head but think back it was not always like this.

Thank you to Sarah Nassauer from Wall Street Journal for writing out the truth regarding "Transition Pay". My fellow former co-workers nationwide recieved 2 weeks pay and as you can see from the former employees posts the other parting gifts they received. Most other journalists did not elaborate on the transition pay and speaking for myself I appreciate it Sarah thank you.

Rtm clerk is going I would start looking I am In The test market. The new system is going to eliminate your position or at best make it part time. But I see them handing the hazmat and sos over to the receiving clerk. I was asked by out side higher ups on a visit to the store how it was going and said I can see my job be eliminated and there response was have you considered what else you may want to do.
I also spoke to a few vendors and they had more info then management was giving us they had dates build locations for new returns facilities and by next year will be rolled out company wide. So far all dates and info has been accurate.
So please don’t end up like fsa and assembler and be blind sided.

Lowe's owned Orchard Supply Hardware stores...upgraded them, had knowledgable staff in my 3 local stores and always busy...but closed the ENTIRE chain, putting all those employees out of work because the stores weren't making enough. They were profitable...just not making the margins Lowe's wanted! Good luck Lowes. You had my OSH business. Ain't spent a cent with you since! Won't spend there in the future either!

HR and LP knew their jobs were being eliminated, they were given months to find another job. The HR rep at the store where I worked was totally useless for employees anyway; she sided with management and let us know how annoyed she was if we needed her help.
If management knew these layoffs were coming, they could have given us some notice. Instead they treat us like we're the enemy! Not enough employees as it is to get our jobs done and now this. It's wrong to treat people this way.

Good luck to all those let go. Marvin has had plenty of practice showing loyal, long-term employees the door. Just ask the many JC Penney associates that witnessed the revolving door of CEOs that have now destroyed the company. Sounds like Marvin is doing the same with Lowe's.

I was one of the dept managers from two years ago when they demoted us all. Since they said we had to find our own slot or leave I left. Glad I did. Was hard to leave after 17+ years but at least they did give us the option to find another slot. What they are doing now is insane. How can they not think this will affect their bottom line? I still see some of my old customers and they tell me how much service has gone down and many wont shop there anymore.

Lowes needs someone working for the company with good communicate skills, stong advocate for not just himself/ herself, one thats not back stabbing employess and talking about them to other associates and able to listen and accept both posirive and negative feedback in store management, especially those in store management. Speak up and speak out . They hire people that dont want to work and those that do are always the ones who loose out. As long as your quiet and not speaking out every is fine until you start speaking up. The lose of positions are not hurting those higher up or those at store managememt level because they have a job. Of course, there are many at management level that really have the qualifications to work in managment. Lowes company isn't getting better but worse.

Lowes is headed down the worm hole, Marvin is running company into ground. I pretty sure Home depot is still employing him to help get rid of competition. The moves he is making are not in company or employee best interest. He care less about employees and his Fake support for veterans is laughable. 4th of july and veterans day isnt even a company holiday. Let that sink in. cares less about employees. To know for months you are getting ready to eliminate a position at company and not give your people time to make lifes decission based on not being employed anymore. Like maybe shouldnt by that nerw house cause your past 10 years at your job is over, and you no longer have a pay check. Marvin preaching about god, to have no feelings about your dedicated employees and just throw them out the door with no notice and some little 80 hr severance is despicable.
