The outsourcing of some segments of production has been discussed for some time, but now it looks as though that plan has been set into motion. The article reports that Intel has begun extensive talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to outsource the production of Intel’s entry-level Atom processors and some chipsets, given that TSMS ’s facilities are the only semiconductor foundries in the world that can deliver on such a big scale. The reason for this move lies in the fact that Intel wants to react to the shortage in supply of some types of processors. I wonder will this move be an intro to some reorganizations in production in the US.
