Might be more like a ROM in selective cost centers than it would be widespread layoffs everywhere. Ask yourself whether you truly contribute that much to your workgroup, or if your workgroup contributes significantly to the business unit. If your honest answer is No or Maybe, then you should be very concerned. Start brushing up on your resume or get busy networking, aka kissing @ss and svcking up.

We heard the same thing at Church this morning, but it sounds like it's only a handful like few hundred folks will be laid off at the Chevron San Ramon, few hundred is by far not a mass layoff. Not sure if lay off is the correct word to be used, it's more like a forced re-location to somewhere else to reduce the cost is what I heard. But we heard that their pay will be cut. So it sounds more like a forced attrition, or make it as difficult as possible. Make them move during a school year, reduce their pay.. and/or hopefully stress them hard enough so they will leave by them self before end of the year. Kinda sad I think.. alot of psychological tactics being used.

ITC and ETC seem to be leading the digital revolution, so I'm pretty sure they are not shrinking.

I have been working at Chevron for over 35 years now. Through out my career I have seen so much waste by Management too busy "Critiquing" each other to show that they are "valuable" to our company. Every year at our budget meetings every department management will fight amongts one another to get more funding and explain to me why the "other" departments are less value. When it comes to performance reviews, the same excuse comes up yearly. "Due to business growth, we are currently willing but unable to achieve the deliverable milestones at this time" , And not matter how much budget you give them, they seem to have the excuse over and over again. And our cost goes up again and again. The contingency plans are typically used to reduce the "Fat" in the company to make it more business efficient. The problem is when you have someone sitting there too long, they have a sense of "entitlement" mentality that the company owes them something. But in reality, they don't owe them anything.

Contingency plans, to the minimal extent any exist, are for major oil price crashes. In the meantime, hiring continues in most locations as we build OC for higher performance and try to replace natural attrition, like oldsters dying off or retiring to their rocking chairs.

@4Gqly, I guarantee that San Ramon and Houston will both suffer the same fate if headcount reductions are in the contingency plan. Don’t you go believing what any VP would say. His or her job is to contain panic among the rank and file on deck, while they are quietly jumping into the lifeboats.

I work at Chevron San Ramon, we recently ask our VP about this and he assured us that everything will be fine there is no layoffs for our team. But then at lunch a small group of us privately asked him about the contingency plan that is being submitted to the CEO. He told us he can't comment on such matter :( , but he assured us that San Ramon is fine, and if there going to be any headcount reductions. It will be in Houston Texas first on the chopping block, a lot of us Indians here , apparently our cost is much lower. (knew it all along we are under paid) smh... but it smells like there is a contingency plan being formulated at this time.

Yeah, I heard the same that Chevron in San Ramon, California will be announcing Lay Offs end of 2019 as well. My neighbor at Blackhawk is an executive there, he told me about it and not sure what to do about it. Looks like he is stressing out lately :( I think they are trying to keep it quite as posibble but words are getting out. Plus as you can see on the news Goldman Sachs warn that a recession is coming in Q4 2019. So chevron Corp is preparing for it. I think they are going to announce it at their Town Hall meeting next. OR like usual, lie about it and be a spin doctor around it smh. Typical BS HR.

I don’t anticipate any widespread layoffs at Chevron in 2019 or 2020. But, if the Dems win the WH and also take the Senate, then all bets are off. Run for the hills.

Houston office is busier than ever. Hiring galore and plenty of green badges as well. There are quite a few retirees back on payroll via Bridges. They seem happy.

I heard that Chevron will be planning a mass layoff at their San Ramon, California location. My neighbor works at a local bank , he told me that few high level executives in the company are making preparations for their family to sell their house and moved to another state before the company announces mass layoff. They want to sell it first before any major announcement is made in 2019.

Chevron is a failing company. Is it any surprise since the company is focusing too much attention to liberal social groups and initiatives? Throw out that nonsense and focus on being an oil company for heavens sake! It’s simple, just do it.

My goodness me. If Chevron does not see that we are completely overloaded with Petrotechs and centralized staff (ETC+UC+PRC) we won't survive more than five years- Please management step up and do what needs to be done for stockholders. Company needs to accelerate departure of 27 and 28s that don't have more than 5-10 years run way; Offer voluntary packages for these folks or pay a bigger price for uncommitted folks staying around and emerging folks quitting. Company has treated experienced folks appallingly (Listening sponsors) so don't keep them to remind the next generation of how they will end up if not part of the prima donna few

You are all sacked. Good news is everyone that gets laid off from Chevron lands a new job at twice the pay and much better benefits. But this may only apply to those with multiple PhDs.
