They folded 2 sales teams together. It was easy to see the dividing line between acquisition teams in places of power based on which sales folks were laid of and which one were not.

The UK process has officially started. Given legal process requirements, those impacted will be notified mid September.

Cisco - gig + economy. i.e Good month salary in the short term, with the knowledge that unless you are a 'friend of the family' you are getting canned before you can create a career at the place.

Want a an actual career opportunity? Then Cisco is not your stop.

I spoke with my manager today and was told by he and a colleague 5000 were let go. A colleague I work with called me and told me this morning he was let go yesterday. I am so sick and f—ing tired of this ! Every f—ing year I have been here which is almost 10 years there have been LRs. I am getting my stuff done and getting the f— out ! I love my job but to see this every year no matter how bad it is or how good it is screams bad management. All of the SVPs should along with Chuck ! F— these asshats ! I am so f—ing mad !!!!!

It is all well orchestrated and every BU has their esoteric groups and network.
Veterans form their group float RSUs, promotions within. Bring their friends and families and promote them. It is not healthy environment. An IT manager USA brought his neighbor and family friend as contractor, converted to blue badge and promoted in less than 3 years. It is such a shame while others suffer working hard. In promo reviews when good performer turn comes, some or other way they flag him down so that they can promote their buddies. IT leadership here in India is totally shameless, power hunger and biased. Top brass don't have visibility at this level ....it is pain working

Cisco is one of the good companies to work with.Few teams and Old timers make it look worse.

I can relate it back to a team when you said '$' which i am not sure if you are referring to the same
Couple of high-Po contributors left the team out of frustation as there was no value for brains
and within months promo was given to family member of some Cisco Director/VP. I agree
Managers makes the calls since above the levels it is only Count that matters.

It doesn't matter your level of performance at CSCO – your direct manager only has so much sway and often is just told who and when to whack people based on decisions that were made layers up. It is about as brutal as it can be, with some teams getting the axe on a group-video call – not even the courtesy to have a 1:1 meeting.

Cisco does many things well, and can be a great place to be – but this part of the organization is bordering on unethical if not immoral. Meanwhile, executives that MADE THE VERY DECISIONS that probably caused the layoffs stay in place, or get shifted to another group and get showered with $ and stock. It is fairly grotesque to see all the internal team talk about accountability, but those doing the admonishment never seem to be accountable.

It doesnt matter you get RSU or top performer ,it usually the manager decides who to keep and who to take out. The '$' team which had extremely good performers but most of them left and rest ready to leave ..no promotions for 2,3 years .Suddenly the boss man woke up and promoted left out folks in the team with or without any achievements..All you should be is either YES man or some big guys family member .. Thats true cisco style..

Response to : I haven't been here a full year yet but I got a RSU grant recently. Does that mean I am considered a top performer here and less likely to be impacted? I don't know if everyone gets RSUs in the spring or not.

The word is that IT is about to take a major hit as the new CIO makes her mark. Managers and Directors being interviewed by external consultancy to prove they should keep their jobs. Changes to be announced next couple of weeks before new FY, some vendors being let go already. Possible outsourcing of a lot more IT services.

I hear they are going to cut 3,500 people in Texas by the end of August. I do IT recruiting and the facts are not always the facts but I was speaking with a Cisco resource that told me he had 4-5 friends that also want to speak with me because they are all getting laid off. I usually don't believe any of this stuff but when someone refers 4-5 friends to you from the same company and they all share their respective resumes with you — it makes you start to wonder–maybe these guys are right !

In Bangalore all the laid off folks are back and full swing. It is all number goof up to show street. In US one of the elite business unit asked other units to absorb by floating fake reqs. In USA the main impact was on the Asian GC holders and citizens, who still struggling to get job outside. It is hard to find job outside after serving Cisco for decade.

People fired in last layoff are all back in cisco, it is just staged. It make sense to have 3-4 resources for cost of one in USA/UK. There is going to be huge outsourcing and get rid off IT. CEO and CIO should come up golden handshake plan for who served cisco for decades. Cisco has huge pile of money sitting

Hiring in BLR and other locations in US. NO hiring or backfilling in BXB. Dying a slow death. People are giving their notice at a pace of 1-2 a week.

"Get rid of old and high pay engineers with old skill sets."

You mean "Get rid of old and high pay engineers with high salaries and who won't be bullied into unpaid overtime"

layoff is a norm in Cisco.

It is more an annual ritual this day for Cisco.

Buy some companies, need to keep the same head count, therefore needs to lay off engineers.

Get rid of old and high pay engineers with old skill sets.

Replaced by H1 visa engineers or fresh graduate.

I love to hire H1 visa engineers (foreign students with master degree).

Because they will do whatever you say, come to work on Saturday and Sunday, and no complain.

'Will there be any Cisco Layoffs in 2019?" --- Are you kidding?!?

If all of the convoluted plans execute flawlessly; the economy remains robust with low inflation and the bull market never ends; money remains cheap and the competition disappears.... then, yes No 'Big' Layoffs... but Limited Layoffs are now a fact of corporate life, like pruning, trimming your garden to help the budding plants by weeding out what failed to grow, blossom.

And all enhanced by heaps, tons of Manure...
