Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Looking for job?

RIF’d Dec 2017, over 50, and after 10 months, finally got similar position in IT for $10k less. (I can probably make that up in OT.)

For those still looking, I would say, keep trying as there are companies out there who do appreciate older workers with knowledge.

Good luck to everybody!

I turned 49 in April this year. Laid off at the end of June. Started new IT gig a week later. The pay isn't even close to what I was making at VZ, but years of living within my means plus the juicy severance I received really helped soften the blow.

I'm not the majority of those who get laid off by any means - I get that. BUT if you are good at what you do - and have any kind of charisma, you should be able to get into something.

Anyone over 30 is difficult especially if you spent say 10 years at VZ and finished your degree here.

New college grads with perfectly aligned degree and hopefully an internship with exactly the right thing is the go to hire.
