Thread regarding Sears layoffs

It all comes down to the holiday season

This article said it right. Holiday season sales are indeed the most crucial factor which will determine the future of Sears. It’s a sad thing that it came to this, but bad sales during the holidays may very well mean that ch 7will be filed in January. On the other hand, a good result could buy us some time and space to do the necessary things for the survival of the company.

Why would sales be better this year than last year? Why? Last year's were much worse than the year before which were worse than ...

What do you think would make this change?

Its too late for them to have a good holiday season. There is too much debt and Sears will only attract the last minute customers

b---s---. I heard that same sad song for the 11 years I worked for Sears. "This is a make or break Holiday season".....Yeah well, they were. It's broken. Sears is truly EFFED.

Spenders aren’t spending,

lenders aren’t lending,

vendors aren’t vending,

so let’s stop pretending.

( insert your choirs line here)

Rinse and repeat

so let’s stop pretending.

Why would anyone think that Sears could ever have a strong holiday season now, when they little left to sell ?

What would bring them into the store? They have nothing that you cant get elsewhere

Chapter 7 is inevitable at this point. The only thing a good holiday sales season would do is prolong death a little bit longer. The customer base is gone. The brand names that brought people in are so diluted among other stores that there is no longer a reason to come in. This is just the stern of the Titanic bobbing before it finally sinks now.

Bad sales during the holidays are guaranteed. The only way we will have good sales is when we are in Chapter 7.
