Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The golden quarter for Chevron

No one can argue the impressive results that Chevron achieved in Q3, not only surpassing the market predictions on the earnings but also achieving the biggest level in production yet ( 3 million barrels a day). I have to say that the company made some right moves lately and that the bets they have taken have apparently paid off. Hope we continue in this direction.

@mdcr, You go and keep your head up to get it chopped off. Take my advise and keep your head down and stay invisible to those who are looking for targets to issue pink slips to. This is not a time to be showing off or bullish!ting in the hallways.

It’s because of what took place in Chevron’s 3Q, haven broken a production record, is the same in most places - there is a glut of oil on the world market. We now have an oversupply of oil. Where having pumped too much oil in the 3Q made CVX have a great earnings, we’ll see the 4th quarter a lackluster one. Prepare yourselves for a piss poor 4Q earnings report, a low corporate factor for the CIP bonus, and a slow 2019 year in general. I dare say we will hear musical chairs being played again.

It is the END anyway... the truth is that the USA is in the middle of catastrophic collapse, it lost any credibility and respect everywhere. Loosing respect and credibility is the first sign of catasptrophy and the end of the project, called "the USA". This was not an empire or country, the" usa" WAS the instrument, tool and weapon of the henocide and bloodsucking of some group of human- looking bio-things sometimes resembling reptiles from the rest of the world. And now this rusty weapon is no need, new era is coming... Forget the USA, it will be torn from inside, and will be eaten by itself...

The stock market is always forward looking. World demand for energy has been slowing because of a global economic slowdown. The result is an oversupply of oil and it’s pushing prices down. Don’t hang your hat on CVX going up for the 4th quarter. By the time earnings season is here, reality will be staring you in the face. Forget about comparing the 4th quarter performance to the same period last year. Investors look to the present and future when they decide to bet their money.

For once you are right, 4qui. I didn’t make my money in the stock market on luck or flipping a coin.

Decon Dave, Chevron stockholders should think of bailing anytime between now and the end of December and pick it back up again after the earnings call if they like CVX. Personally, I’ve done well holding, dumping and buying back the stock for a number of years. But I don’t ever go long CVX nor invest more than 20% of my entire portfolio. There are other investments that perform better. The lowering of the oil price should be a wake up call to the typical dormant stockholder.

WTI prices have been steadily going down for several weeks and is now below $62 and headed lower. Before you get to excited, wait until 4th quarter results come out next February.

Almost enough to overcome Bigfoot, Ambu, Gorgon, GOM and many other disasters and all the fatalities this company conveniently ignores as a reflection of the ethics and culture the employees embrace.

Big deal. Oil prices one year ago were much lower. Why is it a surprise that 3Q 2018 beat the same quarter one year ago?
