Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Upcoming actions and gentle reminder

Re-org to be announced in coming days. Mainly doing away with geographic alignments. Workforce reductions across all units, most departments. Headcount slimming down to conform with re-org from de-duping functions. Reductions not covered by VSP will result in RIF actions. RIF will be anywhere from 10%-25%, depending on team and function. Smaller, satellite locations to be shuttered. Hubs being emphasized. Have not heard about changes to VSP (yet). Have not heard anything about HQ re-lo.

Lots of this sounds like "duh, of course" common sense stuff, but hearing pieces separately from more than one source as leaks becoming more common. There will be some sad days ahead for lots of us even if we still have jobs as colleagues and friends lives will be changed despite the call for volunteers and the willingness of others to continue on. Remember to try and be respectful and supportive no matter who it is as someday you could be on the other side. Good luck to all.

I doubt there will be any RIFs now for at least five years. They got the headcount they needed and then some.

So today is the day for many. Over the last few days there have been many emails going out from those leaving expressing their gratitude towards others and encouraging those who are staying. The grace I am seeing from those leaving is the one positive note from this. Ironically, VSP'ers seem to have a clearer vision of the future than those responsible for charting the course ahead for VZ 2.0.

Agree! I’ve read some hateful posts on this site which breaks my heart. I really appreciate your post. 44,000 people/families is a sobering number. I pray everyone has peace about their decision and is blessed in whatever opportunity is next for them.
