New Yorkers - be aware - Unemployment is NOT approved when Severance is paid (lump sum or not). NY unemployment goes by the weeks that the severance is paid for, one can get unemployment after the # weeks of severance time ends ...… if one is not employed by that time...they give you a date that you can become eligible after the severance weeks ends.

Who cares ... I certainly hope people aren't taking the package hoping to get the paltry sum of unemployment
