Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Morale check????

The word excited was used multiple times on today’s webcast. How many of you are currently excited? Many team members are mentally checked out. Not just the team members that accepted the package, but, those that are not going to accept it as well. The communications team should be doing a better job of advising leadership on how to better engage with the rest of the company. I feel bad for the customers who have to deal with disgruntled employees as their fate is determined.

Truly a bunch of Lemmings. They are applauding for the "leaders" that will fire their collective asses.

It's disgusting .

It's like a drinking game.... take a swig every time someone said "excited."

Very poorly executed considering everyone was looking for substance in light of a VSP. Left everyone with more questions then answers.

That was the worst company webcast/conference call in my 30+ years.

The rah rah stuff was beyond tone deaf. I heard the word "empathy" thrown around, yet there was none to be displayed. At least have the awareness to, at a minimum, tone it down in acknowledgment of what's been going on. Forcing this kind of enthusiasm is distasteful and degrades everyone involved.

I'm sure a number of the people in the room are wondering when the bell will toll for them. Kyle looked like he just rolled in from an all night bender in a c-sino. Probably a challenge to get much out of the leadership meeting with blade hanging over your neck.

Agree with another post, Kyle looked defeated, even when making the case for the involvement of IT across all teams. Tami also looked beat up. Loved how he said less powerpoints...though we all know that's fluff. The litany of speeches did come at an opportune time, the day before elections! So there ya' go. Also, did anyone else begin to tune out during the webcast? Maybe it's just me, the speeches are the same as in the past with more "excitement" thrown in the mix.

To me it looked like many in the room with the boss were not particularly excited about what was going on. Clapping looked forced to me. Not many smiling faces nor enthusiasm.

Customer focused, that the new tagline for all decks moving forward. Exciting. When the hell were we not customer focused? These exec's just lining themselves up to bring the same favored minions along on their gigs. What a joke. Meanwhile, floors and buildings away from building 4, sit teams being strategically told they may have no place in the structure? All in time to incite more people to push that button before this week's end. Hmmm. Walk around and listen to folks and you'll hear the same scenario repeating itself- welcome to Verizon 2.0. Also, people offered the package while only at the company 2-years! So you see, it's not about just the tenured here.

Did anyone pick up in the whole IT to Infosys as great/positive/awesome choice? For shame.

Is it just me or did Kyle look a little roughed up? He wouldn't look at the camera either. If I didn't know better I would say he was participating under duress.....

Totally checked out as are the few that have accepted the infosys offer which will be working with one hand tied behind your back due to restrictions. It will be funny to see the system implosions

Just a roomful of puppets. Clapping and cheering like he is saving the company. Quite the contrary. I clicked the button at 2:30 today after hearing enough!!
