Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The initial rumor for weeks was 3 weeks per year, no cap.

Maybe they decided to see how many takers they could get with 60 weeks. I think this was a "lets see what happens". Like buying a house, the seller wants 400. you offer 380, they say no you want the house, you pay 400.

We all know who they want gone, removing the cap hits that specific group of people. And, being denied is not grounds for a lawsuit, That possibility is part of the package AND, they state that they will give preference to the most tenured employees. So, no surprises with that.

OP, this was my post in response to a different thread. I wish you guys wouldn't start new threads with other peoples thoughts.

Meh, I didn't expect any difference to be announced today. Someone pointed out to me that, to the company, the VSP for someone with 20 years costs no more than salarying someone until June and then giving them the standard RIF package. I'm sure that they don't care how many folks take the bait. They have a number of positions that they want to cut and they are going to cut that number of employees.
