Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Was Laid Off Today. IT Engineer

I met with my Manager today who informed me of the "restructuring" and that my position (as well as many others in the department) had been eliminated. This took me by surprise, but I guess there has been talk of this for a while now. I feel sad and worried for my family, but it does appear that cisco offers some helpful services and compensation during this time. I'm hoping everything will work out.

Cisco is confused on their direction. They were hardware oriented for such a long time, but now trying to buy up a ton of startups and then sell those services to customers. Most of these startups cannot achieve stringent AWS cloud certifications to prove they're secure so they make no money on the services they need to sell. Cisco needs to focus on direction and the best way to get there. The company is a also very top heavy which is never a plus.

Under uh new “fair n balanced” review system if you dont lick shoes of manager and say yes to everything, if you dare to point out his mistakes he will go and tell tales on you to the directors who maintain a updated LR list - this guy has bad attitude, this guy lazy, that guy is bad for team rah rah blah blah .... you will not even know of it until the time the 1:1 outlook invite comes

If your recurring meetings were cancelled by your manager you are history and have no more meetings to attended. You've been cancelled or else your manager has. Whole teams are now gone.

Red badges in CMS make $15 an hour. I’ll trade for your blue one.

Contractors in my team is paid 1.25-1.5 times a regular employee so that they can let go as first option.

But I have seen there is no difference between red blue badge in LR which defeat the whole purpose of hiring a contractor and paying him more.

Personally when I hear about compensation of fellow red badge colleagues i always hard think of converting my blue badge to red badge.

I'm the OP. I'm disappointed with what happened, but I'm thankful for the support they are offering and the severance. I will always be incredibly grateful for the time I got to work for Cisco. I learned so much and it was an amazing environment.

Red Badge, I guess no news is good news? Still whatever happens Cisco has been good to me. Learned a lot, got paid well, and earned a few certifications. A good place to work.

It’s not just business, these buffoons making decisions don’t have a clue who is even being let go and there impact. Then you have these managers who are impacted putting more pressure on everyone else to get the job done with less head count.Moral is at an all time low.But what do the head honchos care.Garbage of a company.

I want to work for Cisco again. I got my notice. It's just business. Great culture, great people. I'll get another job, the market is great, but I will totally look for an opportunity to come back. The business is changing (anyone surprised should listen to the Earnings Calls).

Why would anyone want to work at this company.Backstabbers bad managers. They treat contractors as second class citizens. You can be let go at anytime,no way to live. There behind the times and are always playing catch up.
